What's your best moment/memory in Royals?

Spring 2019, when I rejoined this server during a critical run with health. Royals gave me something fun to do and goals to accomplish, and even though I still dealt with severe pain, it made days much more tolerable. I made many new friends too, which I cherished since my condition kind of isolates me.

 

First all-noob-party HT with @CerealnOats and 4 other friends at 3am. 2 got banned, fell out with the 3rd friend cuz of an unfortunate situation. Last 2 are on hiatus. Hope everyone's happy with where they are and what they've had.

 

My 3 guildies had 1 lv200 party and it was lit.

The day I rediscovered Maplestory still existed through Royals.

Early into 2019 I had burnt out on League of Legends after years and years of climbing the ranks. Left with a huge gamer void in my life, on a whim I decided to check out on what had ever happened to that cute mushroom game that had engulfed my childhood. I went to the official Nexon website, downloaded the launcher and was ready to whack a few snails to pass the time.

What I found was a ghost town.

That's not hyperbole either; My old home of Bera was absolutely barren. The Free Market was empty. No merchers hawking their goods, no stalls set up, not even any botters spamming links to their chinese meso-selling websites. The only thing waiting in there for me was whatever the hell this thing was supposed to be:



It was legitimately unnerving, like I'd just fallen into an episode of The Twilight Zone or something. Undeterred, I hit up Google in hopes I could maybe find a private server with a few actual humans on it. I was expecting maybe one or two obscure results, with a handful of people just trying to reminisce on the good ol' days. What I found instead blew my mind; Not just one or two lonely servers with a few diehards that couldn't let go of the past, but rather literally hundreds of them, along with countless communities all devoted to - what I thought at the time - was a simple 2D game that had faded into irrelevancy.

I think in the first 72 hours of discovering Maplestory still lived, I must've only gotten 4 or 5 hours of sleep max. It was amazing! Clicking on the top link at Gtop100 and seeing a four-digit Players Online figure for MapleRoyals drove me to near giddiness. It was like I had discovered an entirely new world I'd never known existed, and even to this day, sometimes I can't help but lean back and simply marvel at how much a dumb little Gachagame from the mid-2000's still holds sway over so many people.

My first time doing HT as a bishop with friends. It's fun and exciting. The background music gave me goosebumps too!

 

When less than 100 people were online after new source. We got to socialize and befriend everyone around us because only those who truly loved Royals remained even in the ruined state of the server. That's when I met @Chiffon and together got @nany625 his 1st zhelm while he dced about 20 times in the same run thanks to infinite rewarps from the friendly ex-Gm @Matty . Good old memories.

1. Published my Bowmaster guide
2. Won 5 times Russian Roulette event so far (ever twice in one day)
3. Won 2 rounds of hide-and-seek event in 2017
4. Played a ruined state server with very old friends in early 2017, but that's when I truly enjoyed this game
5. Sold a perfect nisrock for max meso

 

One of my favorite memories was when I encountered @Cami (Xoey) and @on99 (Enzi) at Henesys's Golem Temple almost two years ago. I was level 43, while they were both around level 50.

They helped me master the Stone Golem monster card in the Monster Collection Book. I tried to help them collect Fairy cards, but after an hour of surfing all the channels with no luck, we finally found out that only the Fairies at Orbis dropped cards at the time. We went to Orbis and they helped me master the cards of all three types of pixies.


Memories like these are rather rare in Post-Chaos GMS.

 

Year 2017 (New Source days), the day when my Royals life came crashing down and changed forever. Started from a single individual (named DownyX3), slowly, the fire spreads to 3 friends, to 8, to 25 ....to the ENTIRE ROYALS COMMUNITY and it just kept going without stopping. No matter what I did or how many times I tried to stop the flames from spreading, NOTHING COULD STOP THESE GUYS, NOT EVEN MYSELF. The "C H I F F O N A O I" smega has been an on-going meme till today. (I DONT KNOW WHY EITHER). Started off from spamming 20x annoying smegas per person, per day to getting meme'd in game, and now, in 2021, C H I F F O N A O I has become an iconic name in Royals. And guys.... I DID NOT INTEND IT TO BE THIS WAY.

Just as the meme finally died because of my inactivity, @Freund , an annoying perverted friend of mine, had revived and improvised this meme into "HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHIFFONAOI". She has spent literally her entire wealth on smegas every single day and to her, its not waste of mesos.. uhg my god... I HATE U WANG!!! I HATE U WITH PASSION!! AND ALSO, THE WHOLE LOT OF U WHO CONTRIBUTED TO THE SMEGAS TOO, U KNOW WHO U ARE.. I HATE YALL TOO!! HMPF..!

On a serious note, I feel that my interaction with all of my buddies (including the ones who got banned or who disappeared or even strangers), every single person I've met has been memorable to me. I'm not sure how to choose "the best" moment/memory but, if I have to choose, I guess its the meme about my name haha! Y'all really create many unforgettable memories for me which I will remember for the rest of my life! Shoutout to Old & New source buddies, yall the best!

Just being a big dumb himbo guild leader (Treasure. Wildflower and YEEHAW are also mine) and alliance leader and building a family and special place for everyone, helping everyone, encouraging everyone, joking and growing with everyone. That brought me a lot of personal joy within the game.

Another fun moment was when we were adding a new guild to ally, we had to remove an old one, and temporarily break ally up, and at the exact same moment, all guilds in the server glitched out, it was total server chaos, and everyone thought I somehow caused it

Those were great, although if you're a total stranger I'll tell you my absolute favorite thing is treaure hunting with steal, and stealing exactly the item I'm looking for, seeing it tumble out all by itself from a living monster is a thrill, especially with certain items

 

I find myself fondly remembering those super early morning Bigfoot runs and the absolutely shameless amounts of deaths I stacked during.
