Hello! Recently I've been paying attention Power Elixir's price has dropped drastically.

Ginger ales are being sold exclusively in NLC, which makes them not very accessible pots anyway if you are lazy lol.
As for now, I feel like ginger ales are pointless ~f12.
Price is high, it recovers only 75% mp&hp compared to power elixirs and you can't buy it in every town.
I'd suggest lowering the price because there's no reason to buy ales now and it can be changed!
I feel like the community loved this pot and the price just does not match its value.

What if instead, their max value per inventory slot was increased to say, 200 per slot? This would be in line with Mana Bull and Honsters, which are 150 per slot, so slightly better. Would that make them a better value overall? I believe this would also alleviate the NLC exclusivity issue slightly, which a price decrease doesn't really do, and gives them an edge over power elixirs.

I can't decide if I agree with a straight price decrease (contrary to what I believe will be the popular opinion), but it's not an unreasonable request.

May I ask what you (or others) think is a reasonable price then for these potions?

Honestly, I don’t really care about the capacity. I’m gonna buy pots according to their price and %hp/mp. Making it 200 per slot doesn’t make the pot more valuable to me. Imo might as well just increase the capacity of all pots to 2k for fun but that’s for a different thread :D

I think a reasonable price would be around 12k.

    Hey now shh.

More inventory space is always a good thing. If we increased the amount of potions per slot to 2k I'd be over the moon. At the price the potions are now, as you said, might as well.

Or... wait for people to notice that there's more supply than demand... and then the market will regulate itself?

That’s not gonna happen. I don’t think power elixirs were over 17k ever since the price got changed ^_^'

Hi, I thought about it a bit more.

Well, I think the general design philosophy is that inventory space is valuable and the player has some responsibility managing it (see this post, note my intention is not a 1:1 comparison with pet food.) I would imagine for those purchasing potions in bulk for farming/leeching purposes (the players this change would probably effect the most), capacity would be valuable. "Just increase to 2k for fun" doesn't seem like a possibility/point of discussion, given the aforementioned philosophy. However, I will contend that your view is right; players are looking at a price to % ratio.

Also, the comparison to power elixirs is nuanced.
    • Ginger Ales are only available in NLC, but are available in unlimited quantities. Power Elixirs drop around the maple world, but to purchase them in reasonable quantities one would have to owl, smega, or browse FM.
    • Ginger Ales have a fixed price and are unlimited, but Power Elixirs are variable and limited. As you noted, they've been decreasing in price (I remember when they were 18k.) I don't think we should be basing the price of Ales on something that is variable.
    • I think the two customer bases of each potion are not as intertwined as implied by your reasoning.
However, I liked @Metang 's thread on the same subject, which gave more of the details I was looking for (although it was made only a couple of days after the update ^_^'.) Since it's been more than a year since Update 65, perhaps this can be looked at again, but this also means that people have been farming/leeching for over a year with this system. Have things been "fine" all this time up to now?

Sorry, I can get carried away by the seemingly smallest of changes, but I think it's important that we look at all the reasons to change something before changing it. I don't think the reasons you've outlined justify the change, at least not for me.

*After searching a bit more, here is a post by Joel on the matter back in October of last year: Link *

Edit: In fact, there are many opinions in the thread linked above which may be still relevant!

Again, have circumstances changed and this reasoning is outdated?

That's all I have to say on the matter I think. Hope there is a solution that everyone is satisfied with :PBLove:.

The idea of admins thinking of increasing potion prices in NLC is ridiculous. They think that it will make item prices higher as more mesos will be "dropped/printed" over time through farming/quest completions. There is already a system in which it already tackles the idea of inflation in mapleroyals such as trade tax, we get taxed 3% every trade we do. Item crafting MTK, Balanced Fury takes away 150m(BF) and 500m(MTK). Star recharge price (ridiculous amount as well). Such a silly implementation of increasing potion prices at NLC isnt going to make a difference in the royals economy if you know what im saying.

This post does make a lot of sense. Ginger Ale is definitely a hot potion for just about everyone who's high level. Why pay more for a potion that recovers 75% of MP & HP when you could get one that recovers both fully for cheaper?

The biggest opposing argument I can think of is supply & demand. As the demand increases for power elixirs, as will the price. However, being new to the server, I haven't watched the market long enough to see whether or not the price fluctuates enough to justify a discount on the Ginger Ale's.

From what I hear, total population has been on the decline so that puts demand down so a price cut could be justified? I would say around a 10-15% decrease would be appropriate in my opinion.

That would put the new price anywhere between 14,025 and 14,850 respectively.

I see support to reduce the price of ginger ales from many people in the community, including many of my friends. However, so far no one has addressed these points I've made above, and unfortunately I don't think players will see change by just bumping or repeating (evidently... I'd eat my words otherwise.) This price change has persistently been a hot topic since its change. Again, I can see how a price decrease would be reasonable, but let's not kid ourselves in thinking that the original GMS prices were anything but extremely cheap.

That being said, can we get some actual staff feedback on the topic of reducing the price to something like 12k? Why do/don't you find a price reduction reasonable?

I'm indifferent on this topic, fine with whichever direction it goes. Just wanted to throw this piece of info out there. As mentioned by @nutleafcity - power elixirs, I would assume, are normally found via an Owl of Minerva. Considering the cost of an owl of minvera = 3m mesos. If you take 3m mesos divided by 16.5k (current price of ginger ales), that single owl, could've purchased you 181 ginger ales at their current price. I could be wrong, but I feel like this is a fact that shouldn't be ignored, or excluded from the equation.
