    2. Game Hacking - You are allowed to rebind keys in a 1:1 action matter with third party software as there is no direct benefit in doing that over using the default keys. We also allow the use of controllers and remapping software for example, as long as the player can reply while playing to not be mistaken for a bot. Please be aware that scripted macro programs which control your character will be considered a game hack and subject to punishment under this rule, and not under Moderate Infraction - 5. Robotic Play.

As a level 200 Shadower I want to be able to give the most accurate information I possibly can to the player base when I give recommendations. There have been many threads about which method of dropping is most effective. A popular one is using NUM lock which turns your "5" key into a single mouse click. I will be showing several methods other shads use below.

    "Shadsoo method"
Binding left and right click to both be 1:1 clicks but to do the same thing. (2 1:1 clicks)

Mouse Pad + Mouse method (2-3 1:1 clicks)
Using both your mouse and your mouse pad to be able to do two to three separate clicks between the mouse, the mouse pad, and the touchpad itself

Rebinding gaming mouse to right clicks (idk how many 1:1 clicks but gotta be insane)
Then there is rebinding the side of your gaming mouse to do the same thing as clicks

So now onto the meat of this post
I recently bought a controller to play the game with and bound my keys 1:1 on a controller. I will spare you the details on my entire binding of the controller but I made a "Dropping meso" layout that I can swap to and it looks like this. Left trigger is Ctrl, Left Bumper is V and ABXY are all left click like such. All 1 to 1 inputs as to not abuse any turbo function.

So to preface this I don't want any this is how I "feel" about this kind of input here. I am looking for does this also count as 1:1 input that follows the rules or do none of these follow the rules because they are all essentially the same thing. This layout netted me 17-18clicks per second and I felt as though I was breaking the rules. I then forwarded this information to the GM's to see what their input was and this is the response I got.

    1. Although we allow controllers to be used, the button setup you have provided suggests you are able to press multiple inputs of the same function with one movement of the hand, in which case this is not allowed.
If this is the case for the controller set up then I feel as though it would make it a bannable offense for any of the methods above. This is what I am looking to clarify as far as the rules go on 1:1 inputs.

The inverse of "multiple inputs for the same function" is multiple functions for the same input, which is allowed, but also not allowed. Depends on how you're using it. Using Cntrl-V to copy+paste AND attack using Bstep/Assassinate/dark sight in-game macro is using one input for multiple functions. Just without the use of a third party program. But with a controller, it requires a 3rd party program to use it.

Yes, having multiple buttons mapped to the same key function on a controller should be allowed. Because a keyboard or mouse also does this with or without a third party program.

I would also add that your button setup does NOT suggest you are using one movement of the hand. Finger rolling is what im assuming you're doing. If you're not finger rolling, you should be. This requires multiple finger movements for each button press while rotating your wrist. Which is similar to methods used for mouse clicking that are allowed, and can achieve the same CPM. For my NES Tetris nerds out there:

Saying something "suggests" foul play should not be guilty of foul play. Keeping the rule simple at 1:1 key press is enough. If it's a 1:1, fair game. Going further into the weeds about it just makes the whole thing murky to dictate whats cheating or what is skill. Playing with a controller is VERY fun and if it gets too muddy on what is foul play, I can see the whole controller thing just being outlawed. Which would really suck, we dont play with controller to cheat. We play with it to have a bit more immersion, or sit with better posture, or help with disabilities. My left hand has been broken more times than i can count from Baseball and Rugby. Keyboard just sucks sometimes.

One key per action =/= one action per key.

If the rules were designed to keep the game safe, fair, and balanced then it's not hard to assume this is wrong even if they don't specifically mention it.
Agreed w/ @GunzGaming that the T&C is fine as is.

I want this to be clear that I am not trying to justify any specific actions or promote any specific drop method more so want clarification in the sense that all of the above methods use a level of the same thing here and if there is an instance of one being disallowed that means that all of them are disallowed to an extent. They are all methods of using another button that may or may not be already available to the player to use through their regular keyboard and mouse already. Binding a button to another button to have the same effect as taping a mouse to the desk so one can press mousepad and mouse at the same time is equivalent in this situation as you are using multiple buttons to the same effect.

Should dropping meso be a single button drop or is the use of multiple keys allowed? (because using multiple keys for the same function exists within the default keys i.e. see left/right ctrl, left/right shift, NUM Lock/mouse, mousepad/mouse)

Figure I'd also add some data for some of the methods using a clicks per second test. These are all my own numbers except from the shadsoo method linked in the main thread

    BASELINE
Mouse Only: 7 CPS (I know I am not a god gamer)
    Num Lock only: 9.6 CPS

Methods in which anybody can do on their default keyboard that allow 2+ inputs for one click

Num Lock + Mouse: 16 CPS
    Mouse + Trackpad: 14.4 CPS
Double clicking left mouse and touchpad itself: 11 CPS

    Other Methods
    Controller: 17.1 CPS
Shadsoo method claimed 16.1CPS (don't have a programmable mouse also should be mentioned their baseline mouse only here was 9.8 CPS compared to my 7 CPS)
