I don't really have much more to say than the title. He takes like a minute to kill, and it is extremely underwhelming. Just buffing Ergoth and the statue's hp would be fine.
Totally agreed. At this point any 4th jobber can kill it in seconds. Increasing the amount of damage it does would also be fun- make it a bit of a challenge.
I think this should be done. Nexon had more or less forgotten about GPQ by the time v.62 rolled around. Buffing Ergoth is something they should have done, but didn't. I think his HP should be buffed a lot (50 million HP or so). One thing that is supposed to be challenging about Ergoth is the poison + 1/1 combination (poison damage is supposed to be independent of other damage, so if you get 1/1'ed you can get poison damage immediately afterwards) , although last time I bossed in this server, poisoning still didn't work. If it hasn't been fixed yet, it'd be great if it could be.
Half bumping this thread lol. I'm fine with the exp and drops as is. The actual "exp" is really the guild points, and the drops are the bonus room, even if you don't get something decent every time. Ergoth and his Statue's HP just really needs to be buffed in general, and maybe their damage. It is really sad that any 4th jobber can kill them in like a minute.
50 MILLION hp? Papulatus has 24, and he takes 2 level 130 characters 10 minutes to kill. If Ergoth had 50 million hp, it would extend GPQ by 20-25 minutes and make it impossible for guilds who don't have many 4th job characters to complete the quest. It would be very unfair.
50m HP sounds fair. Pap is easily taken down in less than that amount of time with a single 160 character and since leveling is quite fast, it won't take even a fraction of that time to taken down a tougher Ergoth.
I don't think he needs to be buffed. Not all guilds have members who are that strong and this would be a turn off. If anything needs to be buffed, it's the prizes. Even after telling my guild members that 3 GPQs = Free Z-Helm, they rarely have any GPQ spirit.
I would definitely not want to buff it. This is hyperbole in the extreme. I can tell you that with all the interference from mobs/statues, my fairly well-funded 138 BM would take a lot more than a couple seconds. Anyways, you guys are looking at this from the point of view of level 17-18-19x players. Of course Ergoth is easy when you have perfect weapons and equipment, but there are tons of guilds out there who view triple digit members as being godly, and just being 3rd job is quite a distinction. It would not be fair to them to buff an already quite challenging Ergoth to an unthinkable range. Can you imagine how long it would take 5 non 4th jobbers to kill a 50m HP boss? And you guys are complaining about how GPQ participation is low right now... ANYWAYS, GPQ is much more of a mind and various skills challenge, the Ergoth fight is more of a symbolic end to the story than anything.
I never suggested to increase it to 50mil, that's even more than bigfoot and is ridiculous. But really, 1.7mil HP for the final boss and 800-900k HP for each of the statues (totaling about 5.3mil HP) is not that tough of a fight. The statues are levels 99 and 100, which again isnt that unreasonable of a fight for most late third job and early fourth job characters. Headless Horseman has double the HP of Ergoth himself and is regularly taken down by late third job and early 4th job classes. In early GMS days, you were pro if you had a 10 attack work glove and a clean pink adventurer cape. Of course it's different here. A buff of maybe double the HP of Ergoth himself would be sufficient enough to make the fight last longer than just 30 seconds or so for your average guild. In GMS, Ergoth was a challenge - there was the safe spot for people who couldnt make it without dying, and you usually tried to bring a CB with you to bomb it with. There's no point in that now, it dies too quickly. I dont see how a Boss at the end of a PQ is already "too hard" for your average third/fourth job players when a regularly hunted boss for EXP around those levels has double the HP and a higher base attack.
I agree, the drops are horrible most of the time. People do APQ because they get apples, GFAs, and 30% cape scrolls, along with clean capes to blow up. GPQ needs a little somethin somethin to get people to WANT to do it, not just for the glory. Make the leaderboard more competitive. Couldn't have worded it better myself. If you buff the end boss, lots of smaller guilds and ones with lower level people won't even be able to do GPQ at all, which isn't even designed with 4th job in mind. It's all about teamwork and puzzles really, none of the party quests have a huge boss at the end that takes almost as long as a 4th job boss to kill. Besides, GPQ is long enough as it already is.
