Maybe we can at some point have a command that only* works on event maps that either a) Limits the maximum amount of players being updated in a single client. b) Does not send any player updates to a client except for the player's own character updates. This would allow for those players with super slow machines to do events. That includes me since it gets incredibly slow. *Cause then we'd have a holes claiming they used the command on other maps and didnt see a player there etc. hope you catch the drift.
I never played nor do I play games on pc except this, so the only thing it's good for is events. Very unnecessary for someone to buy an expensive pc for that reason.
You act like I'm expecting him to go buy a $2,000 rig that can run Crysis on max settings, while rendering a 2 hour video, and watching a movie at 1080p. Most pre-built PCs they sell at places like Wal-mart and Best Buy can run MS perfectly for like $400. There comes a time where you need to just get rid of that Dell you've had since 2002. I know this from experience.
I did build my pc and the price was more than 400 and i still couldn't be in event maps without crazy lag.
That has nothing to do with your computer's specifications, the client simply can't handle it properly. The only relatively recent computers that might not run maplestory particularly well are netbooks, although they're on a par if not better than the average midrange computer back when maplestory was first being released.
I would disagree, at the beginning of the snowman event the cpu I had was junk and my fps was so low it was not playable and then when i switched there was huge improvement. I did spend more than 400$ even with that cpu that gave me below 10 fps and no i did not get scammed..
I did have a, Intel Pentium G2030 Dual Core 3,0 GHz (Ivy Bridge) and switched to a Intel I5 3570k With the dual core I was barely able to attack and I had fraps up without it running and I got 2 fps barely, I couldn't even tab down.
Honestly they're extremely close to each other in single threaded performance (at most ~20%), and both are extremely powerful. Something else was at play, perhaps driver conflicts? My windows installation constantly crashes maplestory for example even after a clean install of windows 7 (didn't back in jan-march '14), but win7 vms are fine. If you don't believe me about how close they (should) be, download something like cinebench (a few MB) and try the single threaded test, the times should be similar. edit: This gives you a rough idea, as you can see for the single threaded bench marks it's about 85% of the 3570, and for purely paralell tasks (rare) it's about 45% due to the additional core count of the 3570.
It was the g2030 i checked there too, you might be right, it's possible they made some changes at roughly the same time as i switched cpu. There was a huge difference for me not being able to attack from lag free. I don't think it was any driver problems since i checked for any new updates.
