My last couple posts had complaints and I don't want to sound overly negative so I just want to add that I think you guys did a really good job for a first time and I want to thank you for putting all of this together. I had never participated in, or even heard of, an event this large scale and I had fun competing. I look forward to your next one.

Oh I just thought of another good idea. As a way to reward people for excelling in the hardest stage, stage 2, First person (or two or w/e) to finish scavenger hunt gets a by in the third stage and moves on the stage 4.

This was a fun event, and I'd like to thank everyone for the enormous effort to put it together. It was great to visit all the old areas of maple again in Stage 2, and a good job was made of making sure nobody had an unfair advantage when it came to tower scrolls etc. However, it would have been a big advantage in knowing the names / alt names of people in Hollywood to /find out where stations were. Using unknown alts would be much fairer. Getting them to the right spots might be hard, but a GM shouldn't have a problem with teleporting a level 1 character somewhere well in advance.

Thank you for the contest. I participated and level one was quite fun. For me, the second level was tough and I felt my efforts have gone to waste after hearing that 12 have made it to the third level. I feel like a small portion of the grand prize should somewhat be distributed to the 25 participants who managed to join the event.

"Oh and for the people who think Mages and Night Lords gain an unfair advantage due to Teleport, Mystic Door or Flash Jump, you'd be surprised to learn that the first few players to reach certain stations were warriors (1 even 3rd job as well). Hence the winning 12 participants actually varied in classes, pretty equal. "

In response to that, traveling was a pain for me (Lvl 50 Hunter). I didn't even come close. The second level have to be revised to make it fair for everyone.

The reason the warriors that were doing well in the scavenger hunt were able to still do well despite being warriors was because we had tamed mobs to ride. I still think there's a huge disadvantage to being a lvl70- archer or warrior. That being said, I think we just have to deal with that since there's no real way to compensate for it. If you plan on participating try to be lvl 70+.

I think that 2nd stage needs to remain as is, the only change being maybe 2 people at stations to make it easier for the hosts since I know they had too much to deal with for that part. However, I'm opposed to moving it later in the tournament to have less people in it, I think this stage should have as many people as possible and therefore should remain the 2nd stage.

Bumping up this thread as Season 2 nears. First post has been updated as well.

    Updates:
(Read first post for full information)

    - Updated Winners of Season 1 & Participators (in spoiler)

    Level 2 (Scavenger Hunt)
    - Reduced the number of stations from 4 to 3
    - Increased the number of ETCs required 4 types of 10 each to 5 types of 10 each
    - You no longer need to trade in ETC items at each individual station that causes congestion, possible delays and unfairness
Instead, simply say "I am here" when you arrive to the correct map and you will receive a whisper with the relevant information.
That being said, all 15 ETCs will still be checked at the last station
    - First place in Scavenger Hunt will automatically advance to Level 4 (while the remaining 11 players compete for 5 available spots)

    - Level 3 has been revamped, Categories will replace T/F (read first post)

*Levels 1 & 4 will remain the same
**Reason for sticking with Level 2 for Scavenger Hunt instead of swapping it to Level 3 is to allow for more players to experience the Hunt.

I approve and respect you guys for making this happen, but there are a few things I would like to say about your event.

I just participated and managed to be one of the 25 people that went to the next round. I didn't have anything against the first round, it all seemed to work out. What I noticed in the second round was that it was EXTREMELY unfair. People with certain jobs (Magicians.. Hermits..) was able to move much faster than other jobs, like mine (Warrior). I felt at an insane advantage with only this, but then the second unfair thing about 2nd stage comes. We have to kill monsters. I'm a low level, and without mobility and damage, I had to hit some monsters 3 times before they died, where as others that were higher level could just jump / teleport around the map and kill everything in an instant. This made it impossible for me to keep up with the others.

I'm pretty sure you're all aware of how it was going to work out, but did you seriously not realize when making this that there would be unfair advantages?

When you make an event for the community like this, I expect it to be proper, and fair for everyone. In my opinion everyone should have a shot at an event despite what level or job they are. I was extremely happy when I made it to the second round, only to end the day with me pissed at how you guys organized this. I knew that if I made it to the second round, I would at least have a chance. Because I know that I'm a pretty decent JQ'er and if I would make it to the last stage I would be disappointed in myself if I didn't get a price with only 5 contestants.

Like I started this message: I like the whole idea of a community event with big prizes.

But please, at least make them fair to begin with.

This is a player hosted event, not an event hosted by the Maple Royals staff. I can understand why you would express unfairness when it comes to GM hosted events, but not player events. The host of these events can choose to host the events however they want, or not host it at all. If you don't think it's fair then you don't have to participate, that's all.

This player is nice enough to host an event and give out prizes. I don't understand how you "expect" anything. I just sense a lot of unfair bitterness in your post, that's all.

I know how you feel but there's nothing they can do about it. A scavenger hunt that's fair for all jobs and levels doesn't exist. Any job 70+ can get a mount which moves sufficiently fast, and the hosts try to limit it to low level monsters, while still having enough monsters for it to cover all areas and be fun. No one wants a snail only scavenger hunt.

I hate when people give this kind of answer. "Don't like it, don't do it. It's the ppl in charge's decision to make". See this argument all over the forum, thats not the point. They're suggesting how it could be better, not arguing that they deserve it to be better. Don't mean to pick on you in particular Daniel, this is just something I see a lot.

Where in the post did he suggest how it could be better?? All he was doing was showing how upset he was in the way the event was organized. I see absolutely no feedback, all I see is complaints.

Perhaps I misread what he said, I guess.

My assessment of this season's Tournament -

Stage 1 - Same as before, works pretty well, no complaints, don't like repeat after me, but that's just my opinion. I think you've got this stage worked out.

Stage 2 - The changes were aimed at making it easier for the hosts, so idk how good of a job it did at that. Last season I managed to get ahead of the traffic jam and that gave me an advantage that I didn't have this time but I guess that's how it should be. Maybe avoid picking monsters with low drop rates/spawn and few maps. Cube slimes was a nightmare with dk's dragon roaring the whole map. I know fairness for all jobs isn't something you can help a whole lot but this part was particularly biased. Overall very good though.

One thing you could possibly add, idk think about it, non-determined etcs. As in instead of specifying every etc, maybe theres some of like "get me a red monster etc". Idk might be interesting.

Stage 3 - Much improved over last season. Kind of wish it was a little more controlled. There was a lot of people going out of order at times, never went all the way around, felt really rushed to answer. Idk how to fix tht though. I might've preferred the timer counting out loud for a better sense of how much time we had to think. I think this was fairly good though.

    Stage 4 - I will never know...:'C

Overall - Good job this season, you guys do really great with these events, they're a lot of fun. Definitely gonna make it to everyone of these that I can.

I just see people making replies like yours a lot in the forum and I think they miss the point and I wanted to address that. If someone says your product isn't good enough, you don't say "then don't buy it", you make it better.

It's true that I didn't suggest how it could be better, but if you necessarily need me to have an example: Only use events that doesn't make other jobs "better" than others. For example something like Russian Roulette.

I'm also fully aware of it not being hosted by the RoyalsStaff, and that it's up to me whether or not I decide to participate or not. The reason I posted that comment was to inform them about what I thought about it. If I was the one hosting an event like this, I would want feedback and people to express their feelings and thoughts on it.

I'm not argumenting for why they should change it or whatnot, I'm simply telling them what I think, so that they THEMSELVES can decide what THEY want to to with THEIR event.

    Salty???

Ok well I enjoyed the event a lot. I'll go through what I thought of each individual stage.

    1) Organized, like last time. I didn't see anything really wrong with it, so this was +.

    2) Much better without lag. I teamed in this stage and was able to successfully get first and my teammate second, good communication helped. One thing I would say Is do mobs that have better spawn. I remember trying to get plastic crowns from King Bloctopus and Cyndy, NurseJoy, Pain and myself were all trying to kill them in the tiny map with little spawn.

    3) I won first in Scavenger so I didn't participate in this one. But as a stand-by character, I saw this was well put together and extremely fair. The ordering was fair, timing was fair and categories were fair. I like this much better than the Russian roulette whoops I mean t/f (<3).

    4) Although I completely failed, I have nothing to say regarding this. Basic JQ in which I was successfully able to get third, behind Pain and Cyndy.

Overall, much much better. I enjoyed this a lot. Chris- You, Josh and Iffy did a much better job this time, very well put together. I will also enjoy my 100 fames! Haha, thank you for event though!

If only my brain hadn't gone full derp in the third stage!

Jeez I feel dumb at the moment.

But it was very well-organized, which isn't easy to do as a non-GM, so congrats on that!

    1) I don't really see anything wrong with round 1. It's fun, challenging, and doesn't always favor people who type quickly. I'm personally not a very fast type yet still won due to people before me making careless typos. I think it's a good way to thin the herd without upsetting people too much. I personally didn't read all of what went on after I won but I'd like to mention that I liked the challenge it brought! I'm specifically thinking about the return scroll that was dropped xD .. That got so many people.

    2) I can't really see how it can be made any more fair than it currently is other than upping the difficulty on the riddles. If the riddle is more difficult than getting the items themselves then it shouldn't really be very unfair for anyone. Maybe add a disclaimer saying that level 70+ is recommended? Everyone can buy a mount and have speed quicker than haste. I'm a mage but I know for a fact that it wasn't my job that gave me my biggest advantage, it was my knowledge of the maple world. I could've had perfect equips, 300% speed and flash jump but it wouldn't have made one bit of difference without knowing where I needed to go. I saw people asking in both buddy and guild chat about where to find monsters/items which I considered to be basic maple knowledge.

    3) I really did like this stage for more than one reason. Not only did it test maple knowledge but it also tested patience. The faster you tried to spit out your answer, the more likely you were to make a mistake. Is 5 seconds too short? Maybe if it got to the point where we eally had to think about our answers but I can't really judge what didn't happen. People were careless and the rounds were extremely quick.

    4) A jump quest is a jump quest. I'm not really sure what to say about this. I personally love them because it takes a watchful eye and you can't just jump through them without thinking about it. Sure, you could go as fast as you can and try to go for a record time but I personally prefer to go slowly and steadily. In events like this, your nerves often get the best of you so rushing shouldn't be the first course of action for most people. I sat and waited at jump/ropes that I'd normally breeze through simply to ensure that I wouldn't fall. I didn't to the JQ as fast as I could've but it paid off in the end. Ignore the others and just work at your own pace.

Overall, I loved the everything that went down and I hope that I can attend moreof these in the future! Thanks to everyone who contributed to this wonderful event!
