People have probably seen some Von Leon runs already. I can see one of the approaches is anti-mule and anti-multiclient. 1. Players must dodge the rock that falls down randomly in the full map, or they die. 2. Players get teleported and must do a jump quest or kill a monster in a limited time, or they die. These 2 mechanics eliminate the possibility of mule and multiclient which is very good for active gameplay and teamwork. I know Von Leon just came out and we don't know everything yet. But what if these 2 mechanics add to all the bosses? (Zak, Auf, Krex, cwkpq...etc) Of course, the difficulty and frequency will be adjusted based on the bosses. It would make the bossing experience more fun.
I think realistically it would kill CWKPQ, as muling to get around the number of people needed is "standard" there. And at Krex, and even Zakum, many people would be frustrated by it - they could no longer button mash while watching TV instead of paying attention. It also sounds like it would disproportionately disadvantage sairs? I haven't played this new content as I haven't logged in for ages and it is above my level anyway, but it seems that a sair would have to dismount to avoid these things, as their speed is greatly reduced while on boat. Suddenly having to dismount more would be a dps killer.
Maybe add like an ''Hard mode'' with improved rewards and these mechanics? I would love it! It would definitely add some spice to extremely bland boss fights
I think this would be ideal. However, I wonder if it'd become a technical nightmare, with lag and possible glitches and all. Edit: Sorry, I should be clearer. This is not a concern with your idea "specifically", it's just another thing why I wonder if this won't work. Sorry, this post was not well written
99% of the boss runs have mules or multiple attackers from 1 player. Fewer players are needed in the boss run which means more difficult for players to find a boss run overall. Could the reason "why it's difficult to find players for bossing" actually be the majority of players just run with fewer people using mules? Since I started playing this server, I have never seen a boss run without a mule or multi-client until Von Leon was released. If new mechanics are added in all boss run, the standard of muling in this server will no longer exist. Players who are mule classes can have more opportunities to join a boss run. These mechanics actually force all the players to look for other players to join the boss run. Instead of running with few people with mules and not actually paying attention to play the game. As I said, "Of course, the difficulty and frequency will be adjusted based on the bosses."
It doesn't make sense that smaller runs would be causing people to miss out. All of the players "missing out" could just organize another boss run
I'm not a fan of changing previous content, but as said, a hard mode would be nice. Although I'm not sure if it's worth the dev time to go make a hard mode for most/every boss. Maybe just zak/HT? And then the issue of loot also comes up - I'd rather not powercreep gear.
people in Reboot: "I want nostalgia" people in Royals: "I want Big Bang" The only solution is monthly server wipe.
I think changing ALL bosses is too much since it would punish all Multi-Clienters. While I am not multi-clienting myself I think its not fair to have an "All or None" Scenario after they put so much effort in their Characters. Also in reality due to low player numbers sometimes its nice to have someone bringing a Mule ... I think your Idea and the reasoning behind it is really good but I think there has to be some middle ground. Therefore I think such a Hard Mode would be a cool thing to have tbh. Its cool to have VL but its also cool to have ezpz Krex and the likes.
The points you guys made are understandable. 1. Mules and multiclient are needed during the low player-based period. 2. People who invested the characters and who enjoy the mules and multiclient shouldn't get punished too. I agree we should find a middle ground for a win-win situation. Adding a hard mode for some bosses and increasing the drop rate in hard mode would be a cool idea.
It will make the bosses alot more difficult, both in terms of the gameplay itself (with 1 shot kills) and creating a full party without mules. This will make boss drops like zhelm, skill books, moon/htp etc to be alot more expensive and make it difficult for new players who don't have them yet. So in the end you'd end up with veteran players quitting because they are used to using mules and new players quitting cause the game is too hard
As I said, I don't think it will make the drops more expensive or make people quit the game if they just add a hard mode.
not nostalgic i think it's a pretty good idea but another argument is there's just not enough people to do daily bosses like you said, that's why muling is so popular not because everyone just want small parties for more rewards
Yes, I agree with that after understanding others' opinions. I wouldn't be against the smaller parties with better rewards. I think what I'm seeking from this discussion is to add a hard mode option with a better reward to encourage players for more active gameplay. We don't need to change anything we already have but just add a hard mode in a boss run. This idea came up when Von Leon was released and I thought it might be interesting and actually work. Whether it's worth investing time in it or figuring out the difficulty and reward system for each boss, it's up to the developers to decide.
