before i start sorry for so many feedback threads haha, i just like getting input on my ideas. ok so i think we're all familiar with this button and what we all dream it to do summon an omnipotent GM immediately, which is romantic but not possible due to labour constraints here is my proposed solution: A civilian task-force with NO GM powers or privileges, that voluntarily responds to calls for help, and comes to their aid. If the peace officer is able to talk to the parties and de-escalate the situation, great. log the issue. If the issue is unable to be dealt, consider making a forum thread to remedy the situation. If it truly requires GM intervention, the peace officer may make an escalated prioritized ticket for GM As a truly last resort, like 911, peace officer may ping GM for emergencies So I'm thinking maybe aim to have 3 of these peace officers online at all times, and whenever that 'Alert GM' button is pressed, one of the officers gets warped to the map where the button was pressed and deals with the situation (one of 4 options) and logs the issue. These players should be players in reputable guilds with high fame and no black-balls by an GMs. This would be done totally as a labour of love by the players and the players will receive meager (if any) compensation in return. (but that's a detail that can be decided later) There should be a SEVERE penalty for pressing the Alert GM button without cause. I'm thinking 7 day ban. There should be 'are you sure?' confirmation too. To retiratre: - Peace Officers with no powers other than to create prioritized tickets and ping GM in emergency - 'Alert GM' button, only in emergency, summons one of these - They do one of (4) things I listed above thoughts?
Pretty hard to make this happen "have 3 of these peace officers online at all times" Assuming the above is made possible, would also face another issue at this point "A civilian task-force with NO GM powers or privileges" The travel would take time if the conflict occurs at another region Can also picture a situation where the button was pressed more than thrice within a short period of time due to multiple conflicts (excluding hacker scenarios)
just to play devil's advocate that's just an estimate, I think with 9 players from North America, 6 from Europe, and 7 from East Asia - that can cover all timezones pretty well... can have more as well. there's not an extensive background check required since they can easily be "fired" on their first mistake, and they can't really mess things up badly even if they maliciously tried. The goal is to pick players who wouldn't even think twice about wasting a VIP tele rock to go check out the drama, if they wouldn't they're not suitable for this post I agree with you! However, a message like "no peace officers available at this time, please try again later", would be much better than cuz this "maintenance check" has been going on ever since I joined Royals LOL i just think if the button is there it should be implemented in someway, if not an entertaining error message, but a generic message like this is just so... lame?
