    What is "Around the World"?
This event is basically a combination of other events mixed into one: Betrayal Q&A (Trivia), Name that Item (Simply put: name the item dropped by a GM -- includes spelling, capitalization and punctuation), Wheel of Fortune (fill in the missing letters), Word Dash (say "MapleRoyals!" when I repeat the word said at the beginning of the round), "No one ever listens to me" (Things NPCs say that players tend to overlook), T/F and more! Typically, when a player answers a question correctly they're allowed to kick <x> amount of players, publicly and non-publically.

Okay then, so what's "Team-Based" Around the world?
Everyone is divided into teams (parties) of six and each team will have a representative to communicate with the GM (more than likely, the party leader). To avoid any confusion, the representative is the only person allowed to whisper the GM, otherwise the whole team gets kicked. It'll be recommended that the team communicates amongst one another before finalizing an answer. The map we will use will consist of (5) platforms, as usual, everyone starts from the bottom and works their way to the top. Each right question brings you one step closer, each wrong answer brings you one or two steps back OR you will not be allowed to answer for the next turn (which is why you would want to communicate your answer with your team before hand).

Most of the questions I use during trivia based events are purposely not easily looked up, I think @NuclearCow or anyone else that has joined any of my trivia based events can vouch. If we have events running with teams right off the bat, I can probably do easier questions.

    PRIZES
    :
TBA (big ticket prizes for a longer/bigger event), this would only be hosted on a weekly/bi-weekly basis.

Here are the different options I had regarding teams
    :
(1)I was thinking about having people sign up sometime prior to the event so that the general rules are understood and that way, teams could be set up as well (but I'm sure people are bound not to show up due to emergencies and other reasons so we could hold a reserve team). It'll make the start of the event a lot smoother and we can get right into teams rather than waiting it out. **Signing up would be done via the forums, a week/few days in advance of the event.

    -OR-

(2)What I've tried and has worked out (but isn't scheduled):
Having everyone join in the event as usual and doing betrayal Q&A style to bring the amount of players down to ~24 or ~36 and then dividing people up into 4/6 teams of six players each.

    -OR-

(3)Have guild based teams, 6 people per guild, 1 representative, this would require a sign up on a first come first serve basis -- only participants receive prizes! They can always sign up for the later event, if you were signed up for a previous time, you cannot sign up for the later time as well (to give everyone a chance).

What I hope to achieve by posting this:
I wanted to see how many people would be interested in joining this event if it were to be scheduled. I would host one (FOR EXAMPLE) on a Saturday at 9:00 GMT and later that same day at 21:00GMT. I'll definitely host this, with adjustments anywhere necessary.

Please leave suggestions, comments, concerns, etc.
I'm doing this for you guys!

    TL ; DR
very scheduled event, much long: yes, no (if no, why) ?

I would be more in favour for having it less restricted, I can say right now I would have a hard time finding 5 others that would actually show up.
Having it guild based would be fun but might hurt smaller guilds.

I thought a guild-based version would be neat, thanks for the feedback!

Definitely why I gave three different variations for teams and gave a bit of an explanation (i.e: option (1) I know that emergencies come up where people can't make things but we could always have a reserve team set up). I think the guild-based idea could be executed (not on a normal basis -- but for a special version of the event at some point or another). I also figured the first option would be better for people who would not want teams to be randomized, this way they could sign up with a group of friends. Then again, I appreciate your feedback.

A group of players want scheduled events so I'm just throwing the idea out there for this one. Onto of that it's a good mixture of a ton of different events (or at least I think so).

Never thought of the idea of holding all types, having some diversity would make it more interesting and making all players able to join.

Ok, overall this idea is great.

I was never really a fan of this because it just requires a good ping rather than actual skill/knowledge. Often times I find that the person who is first on my screen, isn't first on the GM's screen.

I like the idea of teams itself and the idea that each team has to work their way to the top to win rather than just get lucky (explained below).

I like this. Even people with no friends/no guild can use the forums to find others who will be participating, and create a team that way.

Alright so the real problem with the current 'betrayal' Q/A is that the server is too large for actual betrayals and that luck plays an increasingly larger role in helping you win, as opposed to skill. I have been in many many q/a events and, at first, knowledge alone was enough to get me a win. Now, due to the large increase in eventgoers, knowledge isnt enough. Recently, there was a q/a event where one of the winners failed to answer every single question but the last, netting them the win. There was a q/a event a few months ago, where I won 1st place, and the person who won 2nd place literally answered ZERO questions. They simply got lucky. I'm sure a lot of people will say that luck should be a part of the event, which is fine by me. I just want to state that removing the ability to kick people/teams in a team based around the world event like this will really allow people to use their knowledge and skill to earn a win, instead of putting in no effort at all and still winning. With the increase in the number of people, more people are being kicked each round, further requiring more luck on your part. Its gotten to the point that people now come on mules and less conspicuous chars just to have a chance. "ooh i got this question right. who do i kick?? hmm, that guy over there has the ign Dick. ha! he even looks like a dick! huehue -kick-". Another tactic is to not answer questions that are public, because if you do, you are almost guaranteed to be kicked the next round. So, because of actions like these, I feel like q/a is no longer about knowing your stuff.

As stated in an earlier post, this only hurts those players who are not in a guild or are in one that is not very active and cannot come up with a full team to participate.

Just another reason why I think almost everyone can be satisfied with this event. Levels and even the time you spend in the game don't really matter. Half the people level 180+ couldn't tell you the names of the two twin npcs in KFT off the top of their heads, while a lot of lower level players who like to quest, can.

Finally, I love this. I missed bigger events. Can't wait to participate!

I (hopefully) will be scheduling this event for next weekend on Saturday and/or Sunday (one in the morning and one for later in the day [server time]-- you would not allowed to sign up for both, this is to give people in other time zones a chance at joining) but, I would much rather wait a few days before the initial day to post a new thread for sign-ups. I appreciate everyone's feedback!
