Mapleroyals is doing a great job in allowing players to ''relive their childhood''. With that in mind, I believe we can only be thankful for the opportunity to take part in. A little over a year ago I had quit MapleRoyals for a single reason. The meta of multi-maging where a player used 3 (or more clients) to farm a little over 300 million mesos per hour. Navigating the gray areas ''People should play however they want, and it doesn't affect you''. This is the argument I hear from players that run multiple accounts at once to then acquire billions weekly. But despite me understanding where they are coming from, I feel like the other side is not understood. The other side of players that work hard with more traditional approaches such as selling leech using one client. When you do this and spend hours making 100 million, while someone else looks at you and goes ''haha'', and doesn't double but quadruple the amount of mesos any single-client player will ever be able to make on a consistent basis. It's kind of like attending a race in your Honda Civic but everyone else is driving an Aventador. It's like ''yeah racing is fun, but this doesn't make me feel very good knowing I can't participate in the race with any dignity''. I'm not putting my feelings above others, but I do want to share the concern of where this has been going as people who used to love this game like me, are now hesitating about coming back to play. Is there a middle ground?
I think a fairer comparison would be a person is driving 1 car, while another person is driving 2 or more cars (requires more attention) One may argue being able to control multiple clients at the same time is a skill too Personally, I do not think we should ban multi-clients since it would create more issues such as pay-to-win Supposed if we ban multi-clients on 1 PC, players might feel multiple PCs are required to multi-client, which would be a bigger unfairness Some players would also need the function of multi-client to transfer items to storage instead of relying on the dangerous drop-trade Note: not saying multi-client is all good, but disabling it will create more issues
What's stopping you from doing the same? I know my reason is I'm too lazy to do that kind of farming.
Hi LowKeyPoki, Thank you for this question. This is because of fulfillment, longevity and based on how Maplestory was designed. Multi-client was never allowed for as long as I played GMS. I've noticed a big shift in enjoyment when playing single client versus multi-client. And though this differs from person to person, it indirectly punishes the motivation of many people who play the way the game was intended to play by Wizet themselves as proven by the terms of service that GMS put into place against multi-clienting.
I understand what you mean how old GMS felt, but we're playing a private server. I believe multi client being removed is a huge game changer in everything we do in Royals. #1 bosses #2 storage #3 farming #4 leeching #5 cute characters / fame mules I'm sure this list would go on for many others, but lets get to the point. If you take away multi client you will most likely ruin royals.
Hmm I will say everyone can drive Aventador . But most of people decide to drive Civic . Cuz before you drive aventador , have to put more meso and time on it without any fun
I think the core of this thread is not about being lazy but about the original feel of pre-bb maple and the feel of Royals not matching up
This is just a precursor to the usual, make pqs great again, remove leech meta, remove ridiculous meso creating multi mage meta, remove boss run muling by improving class balance etc etc. This stuff will not go away, servers like 10 years old, Matt has made it clear these things aren't going anywhere, read the other 100 threads on it. It's harsh but the truth.
make party quests that are unpopular like orbis pq, cpq2, R&J, pirate pq gain more exp. Nerf goby leech!!
Reward interactive gameplay, I dont think there's a need to remove multi-clienting, just make it not worth it. I think multi-clienting should still be allowed as a way to do content alone. I know this is an mmo, but not everyone wants to play that way all the time esp when the online player count dips and it's hard to organize stuff. This means more stuff like VL and PQing where you need to actively be paying some amount of attention to what's going on. I think XP and the tokens of teamwork need serious reworking. More XP to make PQing at least as good as leeching if not better. Definitely need more items in the token store or maybe some "consumables" (pots / scrolls / something else people use and keep needing more of) to keep people interested in PQing when theyre not super interested in XP. Improve the bonus stages in PQs so that they're not a straight skip even for new players (maybe something like bonus tokens of teamwork or higher quantity/quality of pots). Edit: Maybe a lot of work, but I like content like the Maple PQ. Good stuff for players at every level. Maple weapons for lower level players, necklace add-on that appeals to low and high level players, maple leaf to incentivize high level players to keep running over and over.
I wish there was a better answer to give than to just say "Play the game as you see fit" Some people chose to play this exactly like pre-bb, some chose to hack, some chose to boss only, some chose to multi mage farm. I think you need to find the reason as to why you find this game fun for yourself, and not use how others play it as the sole deterrent on whether you quit or play this game. I can't say speak for others, but as a multi mage farmer myself, these are my reasons for doing this: - i hate dealing with ppl (can thank my irl job for that) - i cant commit to selling leech because things happen and i feel imprisoned to finish out the time when things happen irl and i need to stop/log out, farming gives me the freedom to do it as long or as little as i want. - mesos are nice, but as a 4-mage farmer, i dont make a whole lot more than someone whos selling leech at skele/petri. So i would say the 300m/hr are a little far fetched (unless everything lines up with a good event + you do 6 mage farming) There was a time when i was a seller on my bs, but the second point really starting affecting how i felt about leech and the sale of it. I think a lot of it can be looked at through your own personal mindset. Do you let someone else's way of how they make money affect you, or do you challenge yourself to do better (whether that means you join the "dark" side of multi mage farming or perhaps selling leech longer) than the other person. Really comes down to how YOU want to play the game. I have personally never looked at a single-client leech seller, and laughed at them because they dont make as much as me. Quite frankly, im grateful there are sellers out there still selling, because it allows me the means to buy leech when i need it for my other chars (ulu farming gets stupid slow for your lvl 105+ lool) While i do think they could make some content better for those who single client (pq's and such) as someone stated, i think it would kill the game to not allow multi-clienting
I haven't spent a single meso on my 123 bs to fund my main and I don't plan to. I don't find finishing the marathon last, as long as I finish it
I am not against multiclient farming as it truly feels like the only good meso-making method besides merching that doesn't require absolute commitment (i.e. you can stop any time). And you have things like gachapon stamps asking for 30 pig heads or 100 eos tower flying monster etcs which just begs for trio/quad farms (summon farm for pig heads) if you don't want to spend an hour per etc. I rushed a third mage to 120 before my first chair gachapon and it was one of my best MapleRoyals decisions. The solution certainly isn't continuously nerfing mage farming (the snow being invisible to party members... what even was the idea behind that?). Instead, it's to make other options worthwhile and shift the focus away from farming in events. You shouldn't feel like you're greatly losing out when you decide to PQ during an event.
I must say im quite baffled at how people come in here and say "Why dont you do the same".... And one guy is even defending multiboxing saying "Its a skill to be able to multiclient"... Multiboxing should only be allowed if you are in a town//FM, if you need to transfer stuff etc etc... And i see some people mentioning "Its the only good way to farm mesos" <---Well, have you ever considered the possibility that prices wouldnt be as high as they are currently if there where "no" multi-clients? People who farm this much gold all the time only strive to do one thing: Drive the prices up and selling mesos... The admins are only allowing them for one reason: To keep royals on spot number 1 on Gtop...
I've seen players try to avoid the meta by finding like minded players and deciding to play under the same restrictions. For example, on royals there is a legoman group that only plays ludi. https://royals.ms/forum/threads/game-challenge-legoman-ludibrium-only-challenge.149165/ This is probably the best middle ground you will find, since what you really want is a server where multiclient is not allowed, and this is something that royals will never be.
Since the ability to do so is open to everyone, I think it is pretty fair. Unfortunately, most of us are too lazy to do it
