[your opinion needed] is it "cheating" if you have different ingame wifey/gf than irl wifey/gf?

no cap i would be jelly if irl wifey was married to someone else ingame or called them maple-bf
what are your thoughts?
or is it completely a separate thing from irl for you?

edit: I think some underlying feelings are definitely there on a subconscious level even if it's just a convenience marriage for apq

 

Most people just marry to do apq and don't know each other much so not really.
It's only an issue if they were close and talking every day

 

There's no chance anyone irl want to marry me so I will never have to think about things like this

 

im single ingame cos no one wans me so this is also not an issue for me

You'd be surprised how far some people take the whole in game marriage thing ( to the extent of almost roleplaying some kind of relationship ) and ngl that is a huge red flag unless you're actually dating the person. Some people just put some kind of seriousness in something like this and while it's not always the case, it does feel sorta common

Thoughts are: everyone is different in how they treat things and because of that, the answer to that question just seems so situational/built around the relationship you have with your in-game partner haha

back in 2007 my japanese friend and I were very close. he introduced me to maplestory and we used to go to her mother's office to play and noob around on their PC. (we used to play nexon audition and flyff too).

his mother was a somewhat disturbing maplestory addict. instead of working on documents or whatever her job and office were about, she was permanently doing APQ, Horntail and farming ilbies at wolf spiders with her bishop main, for very long hours.

she was married, and she always talked about about how she met great people in-game and most of her friends were online ones.

she's a divocerd mom, so my friend's father had another family and stuff.

some months later she went to (was it Mexico? Colombia? idk) meet her maple boyfriend who she was married to in-game, whom also played and talked via telephone with everyday for several months.

I'm 90% sure they had a romantic long-distance relationship while playing maplestory.

so, to answer this topic:

can you fall in love by chatting or playing videogames with someone online? of course you can.
is it possible to mantain a relationship that way? of course you can.

is it considered cheating if you have a couple irl, and marry/talk to another person while playing videogames? of course not.
is it considered cheating if ^^^^^^ AND develop deep emotions towards eachother and a romantic behaviour becomes clear to see? I'd say yes.

it all depends on your values and boundaries you set with your significant other.
