This content is pretty much dead, not much incentive to put in all the work for VL. This was mentioned, but there's no reason for bishops to bother with this boss besides charity reasons. There's no special drops, the belt sucks for bishops, etc. The drops are bad overall for all the classes, but when I get asked if I can bishop for VL I'm like I can get a better return for my time just afking at stoppers with that bishop character or basically anything else.
At this point, I can't wait to actually get on a Von Leon run to contribute to this conversation. It's not an issue if I can run, it's possible, but feeling impossible due to the obstacles created due to its design. I imagine a majority of people feel the same way right now, and those that make their goal to run VL will have the same issue in the future.
There's a bug once you clear VL with very little time left it kicks you out without giving you the 15min timer after clear. Would be appreciated if that would be fixed
fix this shit please its fuckin stupid Spoiler: what the fuck ive been vl ever since release and only one of the few whos actually scrolling belts since release, god damn i feel so rewarded . 5TH MONTH OF SCROLLING BELTS, AND NOTHING. is this the sort of gameplay staff is promoting? is anyone on staff trying to complete their belt? i suggest you guys attempt to scroll a good one then you'll see how stupid this shit is. waiting week after week just for parchments and some people can get lucky and get a decent result belt within their first month, while unlucky people can go on for months with nothing to show for it. NOT TO MENTION, ALL THE FAIL VL CS THAT GOES ALONG WITH IT. All the slots are also scrolled with WS as well. what the fuck, fix this shit holy fuck. i've said it before, you guys can make this boss daily so the difference in time taken between lucky and unlucky players won't be that big as long as the unlucky player is willing to commit to more runs per week and farming the mats.
So vultures have this slight frame-off thing where even if you are ducking there's a tiny window where you still get stunned by it. Probably affected by latency a bit but since my latency is on average pretty low it may be worth investigating and adjusting, so that you can't be forced from a ducking position to get stunned standing again.
Some things are needed to be said about this recent update. Bonus: First of all, I want to thank you for making the drops better and actually listening to feedback posts requesting a bonus room (and making a custom room yourself ofc!). It also doesn't go unnoticed that you added the highly requested face/eye 10% and ring 30% scrolls to it, so once again, thank you. However, there are some major issues with this bonus room that should be changed imo, the sooner the better: 1) There should not be a shared bonus room between 18-20 people, its messy and its definitely not fun. Try to see it from the organizers point of view, this is a huge mess to plan and it's even a bigger mess to re-organize before going in when people DC, which does happen in the majority of the runs. Why shouldn't this be an individual bonus room? if you are worried about people muling for extra bonus slots just add a limitation like an ETC that drops from the boss and is required to go in. I can't stress this enough, this is extremely unwanted by organizers. 2) There should be no moving limitation, or at the very least jumping down should be allowed. After all this planning people should not be missing their loot because of movement limitation or short time limit, it should be removed to make people more comfortable, clearing the bonus room should not be a challenge in itself. I would like to see this bonus being rewarding without adding extra unnecessary effort for the organizers. Boss changes: Those are very positive changes overall! - DR was removed, which was the worst filler skill of them all, letting people just mindlessly attack through lasers and rocks - No more maple pops - Old lightning range is back However there are a few things to note: 1) You reverted all the lightning values, including damage (not sure if intended). 2) The boss feels more buggy than before, I don't know what caused it but the run feels like a huge bugfest now: - Animation cancels happen throughout the whole run, causing things like double rocks and non animation lasers to happen way too often. There's a very real chance of 2 rock casts filling each other's gaps and wiping the whole bishop party, and I can't imagine the first squad to get that is going to be happy. - Fake mob summon animation without actually mobs being summoned. - Late animation casts (mobs summoning out of nowhere -> mob summon animation 10-15 secs later) And many more. The whole bossfight feels so clunky and weird atm, sometimes it's not even possible to predict what's the next attack because VL goes crazy casting multiple animations at once or just being stuck in place waving his hands. Please fix On a side note: I still firmly believe this boss should be harder the more rewarding it is, it's getting a bit stale. I'm very thankful for the time u take to improve this boss, and I hope you take this feedback seriously and act quickly!

This is off-topic but sort of related to Von Leon but I hope Staff and Game Balancers are taking notes from Von Leon for future boss content and hopefully Pink Bean. Everyone who commented in this thread took their time to gather their thoughts and write feedback. Please use this for future balancing also.
People are wanting VL to be harder but I feel like it's fine... save the harder stuff for PB/whatever boss is next. Make that one another significant step up from VL. Maybe group mechanics?
A hard boss can be enjoyable to conquer but got to remember that this is an old side scrolling mushroom platformer mmorpg that has a small playerbase (private server). There's limits as to what Devs can do and it can't be so hard that new players don't want to strive for it unless you want to make it a boss only the most elite players can do. Getting the right amount of HP and having suitable range for the top bosses in the game is already a journey in itself. If the boss mechanics are too frustrating to endure and hard to react to, it just becomes content ignored (and eventually ignored by the veterans if the rewards aren't good enough to run with a small group) by regular players and they'll go do easier bosses with their buddies since it's more fun that way. If I remember correctly, Matt wanted Von Leon to be enjoyed by the average high level rather than the very top strongest/richest players or guilds. So there's at least a criteria Matt wants to uphold even if the Elite players want a mega hard boss they can't beat. Assuming Matt doesn't take the path the other big server went, there's still Pink Bean on the horizon (assuming we get it) that will require endgame gear to finish.
so, vl boots got buffed to 6 slots with godly system, and on top of that, it's now possible to get more than 1 per vl run. This run wasnt even full box clear due to some mishap , and there's already 5 VL boots. i think its too much? considering they are currently way better than FS, and it takes a lucky cs for red socks to beat a CLEAN non-godly vl boots. please consider nerfing VL boots back down to 5 slots and give them just primary stats if you guys wanna make them more worth to scroll than a FS is, but not to the point where FS becomes obsolete, kinda like how bfc with the hp stats is compared to pgc/pac, or lower the rate vl boots drop from the bonus boxes, because at this rate, the abundance of a superior shoes is gonna make facestompers trash, kinda like how green mittens are compared to bwg. Also, please keep the lightning damage right now, there's no point of reverting lightning damage values to the weak one that does 10~11k to cater to non washed players, because if you do that, you'd have to tweak the vl groundpound skill as well, as that has far range (which i think is less telegraphed than lightning) and hits almost as hard as current lightning.
Although I'm one of the group that makes money from VL every week, but I still think VL needs to be nerfed. Because VL is not a friendly Boss atm, For me, VL is actually a friendship/Social Boss, not a boss for end-game players, your gears don't need to be good (just don't dc , don't die a lot, willing to apple) What you need is to find a good team to run with. Before VL run, We must to plan very well, and need 3~5 leaders who are willing to open MIC communication when boss. For example, in a group of 18 man VL There must be 3 Bishops, 3+ Bucc, 1~2 SE and 4~5 at most for nl/sair , left are shadowers/warriors. But if your team's melees are super strong, that's another matter In fact Maple Royals' players are from different time zones. I have some friends who want to join my group, but they can’t participate because of the lack of time to cooperate with most of teammates. What's more, if you want to run a team of 18 man, your teammates must be carefully Picked, and they cannot be high chance of disconnect, or players who always die a lot in a run, also must consider the job design. For example, if your time zone is Europe, you want to run a VL team, most of them have to match the time of Asian players or American players. Furthermore if you get 21 players, you may find that more than half of them are playing NL/Sair/Se. This group can't pass, some people must sacrifice and running at their bucc/shadower/warriors/bs. Coupled with the recently added low CD dispel mechanism (a buff to VL), it often happens when SEs are in jail room, and NL has no SE to help clear out the mobs. So I suggest to Nerf a bit VL total HP and mob HP , make VL can be cleared by 18 mid-late game players with apple (e.g. 50~55 CGS and perfect wa ~ perfect -10wa weapons) I don't think players will keep do 18man VL with gelts or 140wa potions I might be wrong, but maybe consider Total HP -500m~1b Demon Gargoyle -5~10m hp golem heal hp 1.5%>>1% or simply longer CD on mobs summon
I have to disagree that VL needs to be nerfed. It is possible to clear the boss with only 12 people, with a comfortable 5 minutes left on the clock. In terms of difficulty I feel like this boss is in a good spot and should not be made any easier beyond this point. It can already be cleared by an 18-man party using apples only with plenty of time left on the clock. We did it with 16 iirc. Finding a group of players and learning to play well together in order to consistently overcome this challenge should remain a part of this boss. Not all content should be or needs to be made easily accessible to all players. This boss should remain a challenge that requires organization and coordinated teamwork to defeat. Some things should absolutely require a little more time and dedication to achieve. If you are not prepared to go the extra mile, to find a group, to learn to play well together as a team, to communicate (even if this just means joining and listening to voice chat) etc. then this boss is probably just not for you. The challenges this boss presents are what make it fun and set it apart from all that came before. I don't see why it should be, or needs to be, balanced in accordance with the lowest common denominator. As Tim so rightly said; you just have to git gud. Furthermore, lowering the difficulty of the boss will not change the fact that people live in different locations around the globe. This remains a constant regardless of any changes made to the boss and I fail to see what relevance it has when discussing balancing issues. Boss definitely needs a nerf. I get that end gamers are bored and 12-manning VL is the only thing remotely close to a challenge left for them in Royals, but this boss simply is not accessible for the vast majority of players. You say lowest common denominator, I say "most people who play this game"
You see, some people feel that von leon still needs nerfs, while some feel that it's fine. This could be solved if there was an exchange reward for untradeable gelts / demon elixers from rose garden . If players feel they are under geared and don't do enough DPS, they can use gelts instead, and if they are really really undergeared, there's always demon elixers, but they'd have to work for it by doing more rose garden bonus. So there's no excuse of it being an "endgame" content anymore by anyone. Also, at the same time, you solve the issue of meso inflation, and encourage more players to try out von leon . And if you add parchment to that exchange reward... that's a good incentive for end game players to grind bonus, and you wouldn't need to hear complains from players about von leon cs being 60% anymore "A great idea solves multiple problems at the same time."
