Hey there guys, From my personal understanding, after reading a lot of threads and speaking to people, HP washing is extremely important for bossing in the game, for classes other than warrior. Therefore, it is quite crucial overall. I know there are "alternatives" to HP washing, but let's be real, nobody wants to spend years doing some daily repeatable quest that adds to your HP a tiny bit... So, it seems HP washing is pretty much inevitable for classes other than warrior. I just wanted to ask whether I am wrong or not? Is there even a point in making for example a Bowmaster or an NL without washing them? Thanks.
It's not "years". You can get 10k HP from 6 months of questing with 0 APR used. You can use HP washing if you want to speed up the HP gain.
With Medal, Olaf and Spring of Youth quests, Gear (including pet equips) you can fairly easily do 90% off all content in the game without hp-questing on 4 Base INT. Get a zhelm and deputy star->htp asap and whatever all-stat gear you find during events For the remainder of the missing HP, I guess you can choose to farm 6b meso to wash or spend that ptime to HP quest. Beside Warriors, Shadower is the easiest job to hit HP goals on since MG I don't know who kees reffering new players to 6 year old guides that indeed state that once upon a time you did kinda wanted HP Washing. If you don't want to, don't do it. You really don't have to. Just play the game. Once you get to the point that your HP matters, you'll be rich and strong enough to blast a char to 135 with 16k hp in a week.
'Get a zhelm and deputy star->htp asap and whatever all-stat gear you find during events', does it matter if I get that gear ASAP (like when people want to max their INT base as fast as possible) or is it irrelevant and you just meant it will probably help me through the game so I better get it as early as possible? Also, what is MG? Finally, if HP washing isn't that vital, why is it SO POPULAR among players? It is so costly and boring. I mean, if what you wrote was accurate enough, then why not do it??
MG = meso guard HP washing is popular because it makes the game a lot easier, no need to risk any deaths if you can tank two hits just about everywhere. You can ignore every game mechanic outside VL if you have 30k hp. If you value your time, you will HP wash over doing HP quest. It's way way cheaper to leech and hp wash than to do the alternatives. The game is about character progression, hp is one of the metrics people think is important to bring up. There's only so much leveling and gear upgrading you can do. If you don't care about washing then dont do it, you dont have to. Pretty much only auf and VL require it / hp questing. Only you know the answer to choosing to hp wash or not. Do I mind spending 20 minutes each day to get ~30 hp? Do I want to save up like a month's worth of grinding to fully hp wash a character instead? Do I even want to auf and VL on this character?
MG is Meso Guard, a skill for Shadowers (although it is a 3rd job skill). Why is it so popular? 1. They're following outdated guides. 2. They already have high level characters and a lot of mesos and are going to leech their character anyway, at which point you might as well go for base INT anyway. 3. Leech meta is prevalent even for players who aren't already lategame with other characters. And if you're leeching anyway, a lot of people are going to add INT since they're leeching anyway (see 2). By doing a daily repeatable quest (and completing non-repeatable quests Spring of Youth and the Adventurer Assignments) any non-mage character can gain ~16.3k HP in one year – with 0 APR used. Granted, you will need to do the quest daily, otherwise the HP gain will take longer, but there is no need to HP wash in Royals anymore. Now, personally, I prefer HP washing because the repeatable HP quest takes time - I can use that time to earn more mesos than what the APRs cost to wash a character. But if you don't want to wash, or can't afford it, or can't be bothered to spend mesos on that many APRs, you can get to a very high HP with 0 APRs used as long as you have the patience for it. And even with the patience for it, it will not take years.
It depends what you want from the game. If your goal is to do end-game bosses (HT, Auf, Toad), yeah washing would help. Do you want to enjoy the journey to 4th Job? It's up to you. For me at least, the journey to 4th Job was more fun than bossing (I'm looking at you Ephi), especially Victoria Island itself was a blast. I don't regret not putting AP into int. I did wash with 50 int from equips but, I'm satisfied with my journey. To me, the journey was more important than the destination.
