Fixed Shop Permit/Hired Merchants causing DCs (black screen and close with no warning message)

For documentation so this can hopefully be looked into before Halloween/next patch. The information here is compiled from these two threads:

Summary:
- A character that opens a store with the Store Permit will DC after a while if someone buys an item. If nothing is sold, there seems to be no issue. May be linked to viewing sales history.
- If a Hired Merchant is used, visiting a character's own Hired Merchant may cause an eventual DC. May be linked to viewing sales history or clicking "organize" following an item sale.
- Entering cash shop after either scenario above almost always causes a DC.
- Only the character using their own permit/merchant will DC even if multiple clients are open.
- The Shop Merchant DC can be avoided by reclienting after visiting the shop.
- These DCs involve the client going black and closing without any warning message.
- Visiting someone else's store does not cause any DCs.
- Another user suggested the shop interface may be causing a memory leak.

Note: Server clock has been disabled to eliminate that as a cause of the DCs. I am not sure if this is affecting all users but it can be seen from the threads that multiple users have the same issue. I am on IMG if that is relevant.

 

I think this issue may have returned. I am aware there's lots of dcs in general, but those are "unable to connect" type dcs while I get the black screen and closure only on my bishop after working on my merchant.

 

Fun Fact. As my FM/Store mule is on the same account as one of my heroes.

Even when I'm on a completely different character (my hero), because it is still the same account, I have d/ced on that character before as well.

 

That's interesting, are you saying your active merchant belongs to another character on the same account but is causing the active character to DC? I take it you visited the merchant as well before each DC?

 

I'm now convinced this is back at least for hired merchants since only my bishop is getting it. And it seemingly happens only if someone has bought something (this was mentioned elsewhere).

Not sure for store permits as I still saw plenty open.

 

Bump for awareness, happened again yesterday on latest client version. Takes longer to DC compared to pre-Halloween, but still happens.

 

I've been observing this bug for the last two weeks or so.

I found this reliably occurs only when I claim mesos from my hired merchant after items have sold. If I don't wait for the client to crash, going into cash shop instantly crashes me.

I suspect this happened because you were still on the same client instance. This has happened to me as well while switching accounts on the same client after doing the above.

Here's a video, where you can notice that some item names disappear and I crash in cash shop. Before this, I claimed mesos from my shop and used an owl.

Edit: Actually, just tested it now. I don't have to even claim the mesos. If I check the sell history, there's a good chance I will crash when entering the cash shop.

I have the same problem. Decided to test this out today since I've had random crashes this week. When something sold from my hired merchant I claimed the mesos and as soon as I changed map the game crashed, so it's probably this bug causing it.

Happens to me too when i check my own store and I only dc on the client where i had checked my hired merchant. Might not dc right away and frustrating when you least expect it (dced multiple times in rose garden)

 

Thanks for bumping. This is indeed still happening and I think more people need to be aware of it.

 

I mostly have 2 clients open, 1 with my bishop (no store active) and 1 with my paladin (store active)
If i check my store on the paladin and collect my money if i have sold anything and i go do things like rg or pap, i dc 100% of the time on the paladin if i dont rc.
The bishop stays logged in and doesnt crash.

 

This has been happening to me for over a month, but only recently have I realized it's because of my shop. It's gotten to the point that I'll check my shop and then just go to cash shop to crash my client as an RC, since it happens like 90% of the time. The 10% is when I'm on a brand new fresh open client of the game, but even then I'll usually crash about an hour or so later while doing something else if I continue to play on the client that went into the shop.

 

This issue is happening to me after the new patch to extend the christmas events.

the issue began with the introduction of the patch with the QoL changes like the rope speed buff and party shortcuts. And during that brief revert, the shop glitch also disappeared. Obviously we don't want to lose these QoL changes, but I hope this narrows down the source.

 

Character store mule: have noticed that you will only DC IF you check the purchase history, if not, you will be fine.

But hopefully there is a fix on this as it has been going on for 4 months now.

 

Correct and there is another trigger which is clicking 'organize'. So it still badly needs a fix because we have to RC every time we remove the sold items...

 

Bump for awareness. Still happens with my store mule which is using Regular Store Permit. DC's every now and then out of nowhere with no error message. No other client DC's, only my store mule.
