An Owl of Minerva that provides infinite searches until it expires. NX/meso cost and duration are up to staff's discretion.

This would be a better meso sink than regular Owls because more searches = more purchases = more mesos removed from the game through taxes. In fact it would also achieve this if it were completely free, and the server would probably be more enjoyable if Owls were free, although I'm not suggesting that today.

    pros:
    -items sell faster
-more mesos removed from the game
    -easier to determine accurate prices
    -harder to rip people off
-ch1 FM spots not as essential

    cons:
    -i don't know

love it. i've always wished that store permits would come with some complimentary owls.

the one con this does potentially have is more competitive devaluation to sell faster since searches are free, along with free searches for friends/guilds.

if it were me, i'd make them last like 20 minutes or less. do all your searching, get some baseline prices, set up shop, and time to make a few edits and some curious gear pricing and then you're good. would be nice if it came with a remote shop bundle as well

Do not get me wrong, this would obviously be great for everyone to have, this screams QOL, but it has to be thought through very well.

My opinion is that the opposite will happen, players will use awls to evaluate everything and be far more cautious with their spending, far less people browsing the market and paying above lowest price, sellers that are not on the top of the list will sell less and less which will result in a market crash, yes in time I am certain it will balance out and the items rarity will match the market price but it might kill fm browsing(which in my opinion would be a shame to see; it is part of the magic in my eyes) and kill average prices, everyone will sell anything for the lower prices only, a good example for that would be fifa, for those who ever heard of fut, you can see the prices on the market at all times, and that’s why no one is ever overpaying and everyone is selling for the same price, that’s what I think could happen so there is definitely some checks to be had and possible scenarios to be taken into account before implementation.

I think it'll actually be harder to buy things for an unusually low price because they're more likely to be snatched up by someone else. Sellers only drop their prices when they need a quicker sale, and more searches = more opportunities to sell your item for what it's actually worth. The situation I usually see now is that people price things lower than the guide listing because they want a quick sale, but the items are basically un-owlable so no one buys them (because no one sees them) and the prices just drop lower and lower until they're eventually bought by someone who browsed randomly and made the purchase not because they need it, but because they think they're ripping you off.

Well, lets start with the fact that your point does not contradict my point, quite the opposite, I did say that if this would go live, items prices will eventaully be balanced out and match their actual rarity, thats definetly a plus, but again it also means that any specific items will mostly go for the same price, no more browsing, no more above or below average prices, just one price for each specific item, that is honestly, sorry for using that word, just boring, and kills the magic we fell in love with when we first entered fm back in gms(becuase isn't that the whole point of royals? old school maplestory experience?), so wether it is a sacrifice worth making, I am not sure, again I am not entirely against it, I am just not for it either, as I can definetely see the potential loss, while also seeing there is a definite gain, telling you I would be dissapointed with it going live? probably(depends on the outcome), but I would not be disspointed if it will not.

The laws of supply and demand are still at work here. Remember how apples used to be 10m and APRs were 14m? Prices fluctuate because people adjust prices depending on what they want and how fast they want it. They will not be static, because the game itself is not static. I assume the premium Owl will not be super cheap either, so more casual players will still have a reason to browse.

I have never seen any economy, virtual or otherwise, that benefitted from a lack of readily-available information. I am not convinced that anything of value will be lost.

Oh, by saying they will be the "same", I did not mean static, I meant that everyone will just sell for the same price at the current time of the sale, I hope you understand my point better now.

We have just discussed this within staff and decided against the suggestion for the following reasons:
    • drastic change to the free market
      • less FM browsing
      • less impulsive buys
      • no longer rewarding to get familiar with prices
    • very hard to pinpoint a good price tag
      • too high = no one uses it
      • too low = everyone uses it
    • 3m per search doesn’t seem too much to ask for
    • abuse potential

    Nonetheless thanks for your feedback!
