Notice New Source Status Update

Hello Royalers,
Most of you are already aware that we've been working on a new source for our game.
A lot of players are asking us about this new source, what new features it has, what it doesn't. Today we would like to show you some of our progress and perhaps help you further realize that the wait is worth it and how this will revolutionize MapleRoyals.

After reading this update post you will still be left with many questions. While we did post some FAQs and their answers we will not be accepting nor answering any other questions at this time.

Without any further ado, lets get into it!



We will be introducing some new features with this new source. However, we still strive to remain a nostalgic server. As a little teaser we will show you some new features below.
These screenshots are highlighting not only our progress, but some of the things we have coded and working that have never been seen before on any other private server.

Anti-lag: First, one of the big issues we face here currently is the lag. There are so many of you from around the world, and we run on such antiquated and inefficient code that no matter how powerful our server is (and we have one the best servers a consumer can buy from a web host), the source itself just can't deal with everything going on.
You will be glad to hear that lagging will be minimal with our new source. The source code has been written completely from scratch with efficiency and stability as the basis for every aspect of the game. Because of this, you will be able to enjoy a much smoother gaming experience, compared to what you are used to. The speed at which everything occurs in the new source from signing in, to selecting characters, to changing maps, to interacting with NPCs is just astonishing.

Cash shop inventory: You have all been asking about cash inventory for the longest time and we are proud to announce, it is working 100%. You can store a bunch of your NX items (and donor items) in the Cash shop and yes, there will be some new items available for NX!

Guild contracts: Time to make a new guild! What's that? A guild contract? I've never seen this before! That's right, we have implemented GMS' guild contracts. On that note you will also be able to alliance with multiple Guilds!

The Timer 'buff' for GPQ has also been implemented as seen in the top right of this screenshot:

Character deletion: Your Guild Master tried to delete his character and leave your guild stranded without its leader? Fear not, as the source will not let that happen. Any other player will be able to delete their own characters again instead of requesting it on the forums:

Ring effects are now fully working too for both 1st and 3rd person:

Wedding invites: This will especially come in handy for when you get married. Invite your friends to the party with this fancy note. Hope I get an invitation too!

New equipment slots: With the release of the new source we will also be introducing the equipment items Medals and Belts! We have not yet decided whether to include all of the ones that were available in GMS though so stay tuned to find out more.

There are plenty of additional items we have gotten working and Kevin has been proudly announcing to the staff as he completes them, but what's the fun in giving away all of our secrets now? Some of these screenshots are things you will likely have never seen before in private servers as these are things Kevin has found himself, sifting through troves of packets, data, and code to find what is hidden in the depths of the client.


Question: Will there be a wipe / will we have to restart all our characters?
Answer: No. One of the things that has been discussed is how to transfer over all of the current server's database to the database infrastructure of the new source. Between Chok, John, Kevin, Matt, and the other SQL experts in Staff, we are confident that the porting over data will be seamless, resulting in no losses for you whatsoever.

Question: Will MapleRoyals become a v83 server?
Answer: Partially yes. In order to take advantage of the some of the new content we plan to offer, we will be using a v83 client. Does that mean we will be a v83 or a v62 or a vxx server? No, we will continue to be a nostalgic server like we currently are with an updated client and a server built from scratch by me. By using an updated client we are reaping all the benefits that the updated client has to offer (belts, medals, etc.) while keeping the game data from MapleRoyals (ToT, Ulu, etc.) the same as we have it now.

Question: So with the new v83-like client, will we have the new classes to choose from?
Answer: No. MapleRoyals will remain as only offering the original adventurer + pirate classes, and we have no intention on introducing any new ones.

Question: Will there be extra / new content?
Answer: In some senses, yes. Are we implementing extra content as in Coke Town, Neo Tokyo or a whole new continent? No. Decisions like that will be made later in the life of the server, but is not currently part of the new source release plan. Are we implementing features that were in GMS that have never been in MapleRoyals or any other private server before? Yes. What are some of those you may ask? Well one example is something we've always been excited to see, and that's GMS events. In addition, belts and medals will be available to players now as well. So the question of extra content depends on what you consider extra content

Question: Will we get Pink Bean?
Answer: We won't be releasing Pink Bean on release of the new source; however we keep all options open for the future!

Question: Will we get Scissors of Karma / Vicious Hammers / Maker skill?
Answer: No, we would like to keep those items out of the game to maintain a nostalgic feel towards the server.

Question: Will the EXP/Meso rates stay the same?
Answer: Yes we will still be a 4/4/2 server. We're aware that the EXP tables are different on the new client, but we took that into account when we recalculated our rates. You will still spend the same amount of time levelling from level 100 to 101 for example like you would do now.

Question: Will we get Balanced Furies?
Answer: That Quest should be working correctly, yes.

Question: Will we get v72 /v86 skill updates or stick to v62?
Answer: We will mainly be using the v72 skill table with some carefully selected v86 additions. This means some of the "weaker" classes will get a bit of a skill boost.

Question: Will the autoban system be reviewed and adjusted?
Answer: Yes, we would like to make sure that this source's autoban system is better tuned to prevent accidental bans. This is especially important with some of the skill changes being implemented.

Question: Will Gachapon still give the same items at the same places?
Answer: Yes, they will still have the same loot tables.

Question: Will we get new Bosses and PQs?
Answer: Yes, there will be some new ways to kill time. However, you'll have to wait and see which ones we will release!


We hope you are as excited about this new source as we are. Please keep in mind we won't be answering any questions regarding the new source until the next status update. There remains no ETA of the release yet.

We continue to look forward to the end of development, beginning of beta testing, and the eventual rollout and transfer to the new source on the server!
