Hi, I'm not sure if this is a bug but about 3-4 hours ago when I was fighting Pianus (Right side) for the first time, I have died a total of about ~7 times trying to kill it (I cannot be sure if Pianus killed me but I died to ~9k damages each time which I believe is to be from Blood Boom instead). On the first two deaths, I've lost about 5% exp each but on the 3rd or 4th death up till 7th death I've noticed I've only lost 1-2% exp each death. Unfortunately I didn't take any ss as I was quite focused on rushing back to the boss and trying to kill it. Is this a bug? Should I consider losing about ~30% of my exp to compensate for it?
From what I remember, death should reduce 10% of your EXP unless you have a 'safety charm' item in your inventory (then you lose none).
I dont think you lose the same % of EXP throughout ALL of the maps. Sometimes you lose 10%, sometimes you lose only 1% (Depending on the map/content) I always assumed it was meant to be like that , but interesting take you have OP I never thought it could be a glitch
I don't know the full set of rules regarding exp loss upon death but I recall seeing less that 10% in GMS on some occasions. It might have something to do with the mob that kills you or the level difference between you and the mob. As far as MapleRoyals goes, I have also seen EXP losses less than 10% and not just with Pianus. Because of what I witnessed in GMS, I never considered this a bug. I just did a couple of tests for fun: Level 47 Hunter lost 7% to a Phantom Watch (level 95 mob) Level 116 Hermit lost 5.04% to a Phantom Watch (level 95 mob)
Ah, I wasn't from GMS but from MSEA in the past where dying always seems to take a set (5 or 10?)% of exp iirc so I had presume as much and dying less than that (1-2%) in a row out of a sudden seems like a bug. Though it might have been the same rules the whole time throughout different official servers in the past. edit: Apparently Luk stat plays a part in having lesser exp loss in death
