This came to mind because I really want to use this hat on my character to tie together an outfit, but its gender locked but, then it made me realize there are likely tons of items that are gender locked and should have the lock removed. Having a gender lock on cash items I feel takes away a lot of creativity and ability to make outfits more unique and fun. especially in the year of 2024 ^-^ At the very least removing the gender lock on RP items. We have access to same sex marriage on the server yet we are unable to wear either genders items on the opposite genders character model. an example of this hat on my male character.
The whole point is that every gender (male/female) has their own unique NX. To remove it is quite silly, in my opinion. I personally have an entire RP look for all 3 of my characters and each one of them has a style that I thought about a lot and took me a while to come up with, but it's not impossible. There are so many possibilities that you don't even need to remove the gender-locked items. It's all about creativity
would be great, you know the white/black cat gloves being female-only locked is a bummer, however I know there's RP counterparts so... doubt it may happen
______ you make a fair point! however, I do think at the very least gender lock should be removed on accessory items like gloves/hats/shoes etc I can get behind overalls/top/bottoms still being gender locked but on that same point i, granted personally, believe its quite silly for it to exist in the first place. Although i get why it existed in the original version of the game. with all of that being said, I totally hear your point and it does bring a different form of customization having the gender lock exist. guess it just comes down to personal opinion at the end of the day. I do just think its a bit silly to have gender lock on a headband item when there are plenty of other ones that are "girly" that male characters can wear, why not all of them? or like the black/white cat gloves that Vinilos mentioned in another reply to my post. No hard feelings though! I hear your point!
yeah i def think accessories like that should have the lock removed Geto in another reply made a great point about having diversity so I can get behind overalls and "main" items being locked still but id like to see accessories have the lock removed.
Now that is something I can agree on. I don't think that gloves/shoes should be gender locked, although, I do feel like hats should still remain gender locked, as it always has the the corresponding hat for the other gender. I can say that I worked harder on a design for my characters because some items were gender locked, sure, but it drove my creativity and really let me think about how I want my character to look. It might be silly, since it's just a 2D mushroom game character, and the ability to dress in whatever way you see fit is still important, but there are things that aren't meant to be, in my opinion. I gave my take on this matter so I will let others have their opinions on it
I've wanted this for years tbh. Some items are really ridiculously silly being gender locked. If everything was just available as "unisex" that would open up even more possibilities for creativity in my opinion. A good amount of items that are gender locked are done so out of old gender biases, such as "blue = boy" and "pink = girl" (see the ninja masks for example). Or makeup = girls only. Removing this would be more aligned with modern days, too.
I agree. I wanted to buy the blue and pink socks from RP. The male one has the pink one as the more prominent color. The female one has blue as the more prominent color. It matches more with a blue outfit and I was a bit despondent when I learned you could try it on in the CS, but can’t buy it as a male character.
