IGN: ZetsuboMS Problem: Unintentional use WS Details: So I did a gachapon run in NLC and I got a white scroll, the run was horrible 1 WS from 500 tickets and I got frustrated but luck is luck and I have no complaints there. Out of frustration I just wanted to burn some of the junk scrolls so I used Legendary Spirit and scrolled some pants I had but forgot (out of my mind being clouded with frustration I guess) that the use white scroll check box is automatically checked if you have one in you inventory... I think the answer is 99% no since this is my fault for not paying attention, I'm sure I even read some posts similar and the answer was no but I just wanted to see if I could get the WS back? Either way, thank you for any reply and the time taken to read this!
They have to be consistent, and so a no is inevitable. But if it makes you feel better, know that probably every other person on this server has made this same mistake at least once. Best to put white scrolls straight in storage or on a mule.
I know I'm just extremely filled with frustration so I thought I have to try and ask. Its been a long streak of bad luck this was just a bit much since it's just an annoying mechanism, in my opinion that checkbox should be unchecked by default even if you do have a WS in the bag.
The problem with that is that problems would then occur the other way around. People would have been so used to the box being checked by default, that they would forget to check it. It's a horrible UI issue with no obvious solution, and it frustrates so many of us :-(
I thought about that being a problem but having a WS in your bag for a while, makes sense to forget about it - the checked box would screw you! But if you have a WS and you know you want to scroll something and not lose slots on fail it makes more sense to me that you would remember to check the box, like some sort of extra awareness since you know what scrolls you want to be used you know? Not saying you're wrong I do believe it would happen the other way around no doubt, just think it makes more sense to expect people to check the box if they want to use WS rather then uncheck the box if they don't. Thanks for the replies btw, it did help a bit
On the other hand, suppose the box is unchecked by default and you make the same mistake (which is, of course, bound to happen), but the item you're scrolling is a perfect weapon with 1 slot left. Now you just lost billions of mesos instead of just 1 WS.
Yes I recognize that the change would cause the same mistake just the other way around, and true it is a bigger loss. I still think it makes more sense to expect someone to "note" they want to use a white scroll because if you do that you are aware of the importance of using it, otherwise you would not want to use it.
I believe staff have said that this isn't possible earlier, because the default behavior of check boxes is to be checked?
I'm not sure this is true as a general behavior, there are some check boxes in game/system settings that are not checked by default. I was thinking of making a post to see if it is possible to make the check box unchecked by default but considering the amount of time this is the way it is I figured it would cause more problems than do good to the players who are already used to the state of the checkbox.
Strongly agree that people would indeed be more likely to notice that way around, you have a very good point! But... So what we would be tossing up between is: 1. Very frequent, costly error (box checked by default). 2. Infrequent, but extremely costly error (box unchecked by default). That said, I actually now lean toward agreeing with @Slashed here. When I scrolled my perfect gun, I was paranoid. I double checked and triple checked that the white scrolls really were in my inventory, that the box was checked, and I would move the scroll to the item from the top (so as not to go anywhere near the checkbox!!!). If I had multiple white scrolls, I would stop between each one to do a paranoid double-check that nothing crazy had happened, and that I definitely still had white scrolls left. Loss is also subjective. The players more likely to lose a white scroll accidentally are perhaps newer/casual players, for whom the white scroll is worth more mesos than they've ever had before. They deserve to enjoy this game just as much as the hardcore players do, and so their potential losses from the current interface needs to be seen as significant. But it sounds like it can't be changed anyway due to client limitations.
But could they just go into the code and....check. Sorry I'll see myself out... - Also I empathize I've lost 2 white scrolls this way so I feel ya.
Regarding your request, we apologize for the disappointment as we are unable to refund the used White Scroll The Devs have confirmed the technical limitation of how Legendary Spirit works, you may refer to posts such as this https://royals.ms/forum/threads/warning-before-using-up-a-white-scroll.113460/#post-634083 This is an issue Staff would also like to prevent/resolve to a large extent, and we would discuss it from time to time However, we have yet to find a good solution to this problem
