I remember Pig Beach being a really good training spot back in the day but I just tried training there and the spawn is really poor, I think there is something wrong with this map because there are very few pigs but a lot of snails and the pigs spawn back very slowly. I had to wait minutes on end to see them spawn back, whereas they used to spawn back almost instantly (on real maplestory). I think the spawn speed on this map for pigs really needs to be buffed to make it a viable training spot again.
Honestly, it wasn't even a good training spot back in the day. People just went there because of the nostalgia and the fact that everyone was there. My guess is the best place to train on Pigs/Ribbon Pigs is the mini dungeon a few maps east of Henesys.
I was unsure about whether the spawns were actually that good back in the day and I searched up a pig beach training video on youtube and there were definitely a lot more pigs and a lot faster spawns so I still think it should be buffed. Thanks for the training suggestion though, was looking for a good spot
As someone that trained at Pig Beach in MSEA during my low levels, compared to the current spawn rate, the spawn rate here for piggies are shit. Even the ones 2 Portal on the right of Henesys. I honestly think the pig spawn rates are broken.
Problem is with the mini dungeon is that potions don't work there. You need to exit, use potions, then reenter.
Kyrin's beginning pirate quests were quite annoying (albeit these levels go by extremely fast)...killing 20/50/80 stumps as a thief is much more easily done than killing 80 pigs. A horrible spawn rate is the last thing you want to see after you travel all the way from Nautilus to Pig Beach.
If I recall correctly, there's 1 map in between Henesys grounds and Nautilus that spawns a small amount of Pigs. And there were more piggies on the right portal of Nautilus and I think none of these are on Royals o.o..
I think the reason that potions cannot be used in mini dungeons in Royals is because that is how it was in GMS at version 0.62. The mini dungeons were often used for events (e.g. collecting a certain number of items exclusive to mini dungeons). And yeah, I think something is wrong with pig beach...
