Solved [Solution Given] Can't get into game after new update - "TLS: First record does not look like a TLS Handshake"

    Ever since the new update came out a couple days ago I cannot log in to the game. I keep getting the error "TLS: First record does not look like a TLS Handshake". I have tried reinstalling from scratch both IMG and WZ versions, restarting pc and router, and looking to make sure there was nothing in the host file. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. I have attached an image of the error.

    I don't see any entries about mapleroyals in this area either. Could you please provide further clarification?

    Hello, I am having the same issue with tlc handshake and tried both versions of the updater - unable to find any MapleRoyals file or text in 'Hosts' file to remove. Is there someone that can help?

    Try rebooting your internet router. Worked for me!

    The link on the main page that says to download additional file to fix only brings back to the main homepage. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the client and i still get this error in pic.

    I got the same message. I restarted router and reinstalled! still not working

    Edit: won't work for too long, please ensure the ISP is not blocking Royals
    As restarting router/modem may resolve the issue, please attempt the suggestion

    Devs are still working on the issue and I will update here if there are any progress/findings made

    Unfortunately this fix did not work for me. I am glad you guys are already aware of the issue, thank you for all of the hard work!! Let us know when you have a fix :)

    Just tried unplugging for a couple of minutes and it didnt help :'(

    The router unplugging only fixed it once. Seems to be an ongoing issue with me too.

    I turned off my spectrum shield and i stopped getting the handshake pop up, Now i get a different one that says "We are unable to connect to the login server due to a server check, firewall block or other network issues, Please check the mapleroyals homepage for ongoing server checks as well as your firewall settings" I added mapleroyals to the security exceptions list, completly disabled my windows firewall and antivirus and i still get this pop up.

    Are you using any other anti-virus?

    Or does the router has a built-in firewall?

    I dont have any other antivirus, i turned off my computers built in firewall and antivirus

    i just turned off "Security Shield" on my Spectrum app and i was able to get to the mapleroyals log in screen!

    Restarted my router and everything one more time, turned off the spectrum shield again, and now it works! thanks guys!

    Do you think this is something that the devs will be able to address server side? I’m hoping yes because I’ve been able to play the previous versions no problem

    the reason I ask is because my
    Roomate is uncomfortable turning off the spectrum security shield lel

    If Spectrum is blocking Royals, Devs are unable to do much
