I must admit: Mapleroyals is awsome for bringing old maplestory back. I enjoy it so much, and even though somtimes i face lags and tacnikal problems i dont mind as long as i can play. However, I have only one problem (which not everyone is going to agree with me about). A thing I liked in old maplestory was that it was so hard to lvl up: you must have completed every quest you get in order to get another 3% to your current lvl.. you worked so hard and buying new items for your next 10 lvls was worth it. But now, as you gain 4x exp, I lvl up so fast.. in less than few hours I became lvl 21, and they quests for my current lvl lvl me up each one! I like the idea of "making it easy", but I find it too much easy.. I miss the challenge. I'm sure allot of people like it this way as it is, but this is my own opinion and im sure other people think so too. I guess it's not going to be changed anyway, but, maybe if many people would agree with me a change should be made it will get changed. I will be glad to hear your diffrent opinions and also know if for your lvling up in Mapleroyals is too easy or challenging as it should (Not compared to current maplestory in which you lvl up to 200 in a day). Every user has different taste, most people prefer the 4x and see it as "the perfect rate". I don't think Royals themselves will ever provide alternatives. This is their permanent rates.
The server is not fast it took me more than 3 hours to get from 70 to 99 and more than two hours to go from 40 to 64 with onyx apples . Yeah no I agree with you but if you really want that kind of experience you should make a v45 1x exp server
I think that if we lowered the rates, a lot of people would be put off at much higher levels, when it becomes a serious grind-fest. Also, we can't reasonably change the rates without wiping the server, as it would create an unfair divide between newer and older players, and we're not planning on a wipe.
... That's not long at all actually, pretty bad example to make it show its hard, haha. This 100%. Its also proven multiple times that more people prefer higher rate than lower, due to kind of obvious reasons.
I could name a few other servers for you if you want, but not here. Just know that you'll defiantly not find anything like MapleRoyals out there, it's like what Maplestory should've been but isn't. In my opinion, 4x is a perfect middle-ground for everyone.
I feel like you should open a second server(not an entire new db and network), such as, Bera. This would be a server with lower rates for the people that want to just grind. You can easy set the rates of different servers.
I agree with Kenny about the second server such as "Bera" in which xp and drops are 1x. This is what i also suggest. However, it's up to you, I realiese it might be little hard to do so.
It wouldn't be hard to do at all. You would just have to create a code to set the different rates of the two different servers.
I don't think the current population for this server would be able to support something like that. Splitting up the community into two different servers when there are only 400-600 players online at a time is probably not worth making a few hardcore players who want 1x exp happy.
It shouldn't be at all. You could just add the code to the GM command. Tell the computer to read which server the GM is on and have the command only set the rates for that server. This is true, but it is a suggestion for people who want to level slower.
Don't think such a drastic change is in order for people that want a lower rate. If you want slower leveling, then create challenges for your life strictly fighting extremely lower level monsters or restricting use to one low level weapon. No one is forcing you to take advantage of the rates.
It's not just writing some GM command to change rates like that. I don't want the community to think it's a piece of cake. It is not insanely difficult either, but not just a quick edit. The idea has been discussed several times amongst staff in the past and the overall view was similar to that of Zage's. Having two worlds with different rates would divide the server and would likely not be as beneficial as thought to be. While this is not something that has been ruled out entirely, it is not something we have in our current server roadmap.
Yeah I agree, NexonEU thought making Supreme next to Kradia and Demethos was a good idea, a server where you could play a more hardcore maplestory. Turned out maybe 5 players a day logged on, there was still lag and nobody was interested.. It was a terrible idea from the beginning that just cost more money than they earned from it.
If you want to sit around and grind all day you could just try for 200. Trust me, that's some serious grinding.
Even though it's not going to change, do you think it's still challenging and fun? I would love to hear for people with experience.
Depends on your class. Higher leveled quests don't really give much XP and I've been playing for like a month, I'm only level 100.
I like having a 4x rate. I think the idea behind it is that we are able to speed through the earlier, and for many people more boring levels. But at the same time, its low enough that you still do get the experience. From lvl 21-70, in both old MS and Royals, the best way to level is to find a group of people to go and PQ. This isn't something you'll find in something like a 100x or maybe even a 20x server where it would be easier to just "grind" out to 70 rather than have to go and find people to PQ with. This allows players to reach the later parts of the game at an accelerated pace while still experience a lot of the aspects of leveling at lower levels. After 70, the grind absolutely begins. Theres constantly WS, Skele, and other parties in order to help the grind with HS and friends. Theres definitely a challenge later in the game, but instead of using a single skill at low levels, you're using your assortment of skills at higher levels which a lot of people enjoy more.
