I'm in favor of this feedback too, but I thought I'd list out what work would need to be done in order to have it implemented. It would require: - one "default" frame (easily copied from the hat version) - three "blink" animation frames (easily copied from hat stand/walk animation) - one "hit" frame (easily copied from hat "alert" animation) - one "smile" frame (F2) - one "troubled" frame (F3) - one "cry" frame (F5) - one "angry" frame (F6) - one "bewildered" frame (F7) - one "stunned" frame (F8) - two "vomit" frames (cash shop emote) this would require some... creativity - one "oops" frame (cash shop emote) - one "cheers" frame (cash shop emote) - one "chu" frame (cash shop kiss emote) - could just use the similar lips-head hat graphic for this one - one "wink" frame (cash shop emote) - I guess this would be the same as blink? - one "pain" frame (cash shop emote) - two "glitter" frames (cash shop emote) - two "despair" frames (cash shop emote) - two "love" frames (cash shop emote) - one "shine" frame (cash shop emote) - two "blaze" frames (cash shop emote) - two "hum" frames (cash shop emote) - two "bowing" frames (cash shop emote) - two "hot" frames (cash shop emote) - two "dam" frames (cash shop emote) - palette swaps for all nine eye colors (not hard if you already have the above) Of course, a lot of these animations could pull double duty- like blink/wink, hit/pain, smile/glitter etc. You could also just put the default eye in a lot of them that don't make sense and just accept that eyeball man doesn't get to express the full range of emotions. Here's how I would do it if I had to implement it: - grab the default, blink, and hit from the hat animations - copy over to ones that make sense (wink, pain, etc) - grab kiss from the lips hat - make the "love" animation because it's easy to paste a heart onto an eyeball - make the "blaze" animation because it should be easy to make an all-red eye - make the "vomit" animation because a squinting eye with barf leaking out is too funny - make the "cry" animation because you can just copy the barf one and turn the liquid water colored If this feedback gains momentum I could try to make a proof of concept.
Okay so, I've come across a couple of problems that might make this face impossible to implement... The first problem is that the base character face looks like this: The shadows of the eyes are already there, and there's no way we can remove them. We can't add skin-tone color to go overtop of it, because then you'd have white skin tone over the other skin colors like brown, green, ghostly, etc. The game has no way of having special face sprites based on the skin tone, as far as I'm aware. Each face frame needs to be skin-tone agnostic. These shadows don't pose much of a problem for the open eye frame, since the eye is so big it mostly covers them: But for the blink animation, it's not so good: The other problem is the skin lines that give the eyeball it's characteristic "bulging" look. These lines are tied to the skin tone, and as mentioned earlier, it must be skin tone agnostic. I tried removing all hue from the line and making it semitransparent in hopes it would look okay on all skin tones, but it doesn't: I feel like in order for this to work you'd need a "multiply" function like what can be done in photoshop layers, and the game just doesn't have that. It can only overlay multiple sprites, some of which have partial transparency. This problem could be solved by removing the lines altogether, but you'd lose some of the character of the original look: Not awful, but not quite the same. At any rate the first problem is the real dealbreaker in my opinion. But there are still other possibilities: - Add more cyclops hats with the other skin tones? - Convert it to a face accessory and have one for each skin tone so it can be worn with hats?
