Notice Staff Changes

Hi Royallers!
We're happy to announce that new Intern GMs have joined our team. A warm welcome to @Foxy and @Heidi ! (formerly FeistyFox and Tentomon)
They will help out with regular (Intern) GM duties to keep the game free of rule breakers as well as offering players guidance by answering their questions.

In addition to the new Intern GMs we have Game Balancer @Tommy (re)joining the staff team! His expertise on many different characters and over many years of playtime gives us another solid perspective on what MapleRoyals needs for a bright future.


Sadly we will have to say our goodbyes to @Zancks Who has been one of our driving forces behind processing feedback and game balancing content due to his other commitments in life. He has the following message for the community:

Hello Maplers,
as some might have noticed I have been less active on the forum and ingame recently. I am simply too busy and will be for a good while. That being said i decided to step down from my staff duties. I had a lot of fun reading and bringing your feedback to staff‘s attention.

Sadly during my time here we weren‘t able to deliver the long awaited Skill and Class Balance Patch yet due to it being such a massive project for a team of volunteers.

Obviously I or we cannot make everyone happy but I now look back on a good time helping with updates and content for the game. The highlight is definitely the release and fine tuning of Von Leon - a Boss that now is enjoyed by many of the players.

One last time - Thanks for your feedback!

Other changes
Over the years some (now ex) staff members ended up using some of their GM abilities for personal characters or personal gain. While we on the Admin team do regular checkups of this, we build a level of trust in our fellow staff members that seems to be broken every now and then which damages the games' integrity and affects the games' economy until we find out and trace back the steps.
After many years of the command availability being the same, we discussed certain GM commands with the current GMs and asked how they would feel about us taking those commands away from them to prevent situations where a GM can create wealth for themselves and distribute them in the game or summon and beat a monster over and over for the loot. None of the current staff objected as they can still access a test server in case they need to test anything by spawning items or monsters.
What it comes down to for the live game is:
- GM's can no longer spawn items
- GM's can no longer spawn mesos
- GM's can no longer spawn monsters
- GM's can no longer use a kill command for monsters and have them drop loot (monsters can still be wiped without loot dropping)

With these changes GM abuse that occurred before should be prevented while GMs can still assist the players and punish rulebreakers accordingly.
