Hello, I have a windows desktop at home and an iPad I take with me to school and work. For most uses, the iPad provides the services I need, but as a software student I also need access to a PC, so I connected the two using RDP with the 'Windows' app on the iPad. With it rose the idea of playing the server from the iPad. Having free time at work or school, I tried connecting to the server while connected remotely, but the game won't open, and I get a prompt saying "error code: -2147467259 (Unspecified error)" (screenshot attached). When I'm trying to connect locally, using only the PC, the problem doesn't occur and I'm able to play normally. I can understand the security implications of this arrangement so I can understand if it's intentional, but I haven't found any reference to it in the server rules or any forum thread, so I figured it should be okay. Hopefully it's an error that can be fixed, but again, if it's intentional, I'd like to at least get some formal acknowledgement of it so that I can put that idea to rest. And if there is a reference to this and I just missed it, sorry for the waste of time
This issue relates to Display's Refresh rate and Windows's Remote Desktop app just won't work, because it wouldn't let you change Refresh Rate (I've tried everything with Windows Remote Desktop). You'll have to work with another Remote app like Google Remote Desktop...
Thanks for the fast reply. Are you sure this is the problem? As far as I know on this topic (which frankly isn't much), programs don't usually apply different configurations when operated using RDP. If the game runs smoothly when connected to locally, it means it works fine with the current display refresh rate I have. Or is it something with how windows itself "presents" itself to other programs when I'm connected remotely?
except with Windows Remote Desktop, It will treat your remote output as a separate screen/session from your physical device, you can't use your physical device when you're remote-ing and vice versa. what you describe however apply to other remote desktop programs such as Google Remote Desktop.
Oh so I see. Thanks for the explanation. Seems like an odd behavior for the game, hopefully it will be addressed soon. I tried a few programs to connect remotely and for my needs RDP gives me the best experience, so I'll guess I'll stay with it for now, but thanks for the suggestion of the Google app.
