This post is meant to evaluate the efficiency of noob maps such as HHG1, Sleepywood & Kerning's side maps etc., in the hope that Spawn rates for specific monsters can become INDEPENDENT. For example, if a new player without funding tries to grind at Kerning's side maps, and starts killing off the mushrooms and tree branches walking around, the spawns would soon start to accumulate at the top of the map, where octopuses(green mush for HHG) are. Newbies aren't really able to take upon these mobs, and it leaves almost the rest of the entire map without mob spawns. Obviously the alternative would be to change-channels and do it all over again, but i feel that some players (or just me) like to stick to one channel (CC1), so that there actually is the hope of some interaction with other new players at the same training ground, as they both continue to level to lv21 for their KPQ. I think making friends is very important for new players, and it was one of the things i really felt when I first started. The basis for the LARGENESS of newbie maps are that they were meant to facilitate the multitudes of new players in the game. But in a private server, this occurs less often, and the maps just arent filled by enough players to allow normal spawn rates & that orgy going on to be noob-friendly. I'm always helping out at HHG with new players, clearing the green mushes for them. But something else could be done to help them too. So i'm hoping that monsters spawns on these newbie maps can become customised to have independent spawns unrelated to the map count. I know that this can be custom tweaked since i've seen this in a private server bout 7-8years ago, on an even older source. If this doesnt make sense at all, i guess i didnt say it well.
I understand what you mean, but there are plenty of other maps that only have certain mobs too. So if somebody wanted to just kill snails, they can go to one of the maps to the right of Lith Harbour. Or if they just want slimes, there is the Slime Tree in Ellinia, etc. But as you say, HHG1 can be good if there are other players killing the other rows too. Ultimately this can also help to encourage players to party each other, or even just team up with somebody without being in a party.
@Matt I think OP has a valid point re HHG1; not a lot of people frequent it to begin with, so even finding someone to team up with without a party is hard. That said, I really don't think this is as big a problem as OP makes it out to be, the time you spend training on those monsters is so minimal anyhow. But just to detract a little from the conversation, we really need the spawn at Pig Beach increased as an alternative to KPQ.
This is more of an issue for mid tier to end game maps. Beginning levels don't go much beyond Slime Tree, Bubbling and Wild Boars.
I am posting this in the point of view of new players, as I feel that it is relatively important to keep onto new players and make their start to Royals smoother. Even if the duration of time spent training at low levels is minimal, new players tend to take many hours to get to the next step. Of course, mid tier is also another aspect, whereby I've seen so many players quit along the way, as its just too stagnant and repetitive, and honestly the cool stuff only comes after 3rd job.. We need to move away from single map dominance and more toward exploration and fun. Possibly Quest EXP can be doubled to encourage questing, and so on so forth. Its not that important that x4 exp makes grinding easy and no one should be complaining about how slow it is. But i think people dont just come to private servers for nostalgia's sake, but for the flexibility given towards being able to try as many new jobs and varieties with ease.
With all my new chars i never had such an issues even if the spawn will decrease on the lower mobs with time. In the end you lvl strong enough to kill the green mushrooms ... May take a bit longer but is also nice exp. And if you are ranged class you maybe shouldnt choose a map without a spot to shoot from distance. Even on Gms \ Ems you sometimes faced such maps snd had also to cc or deal with it. And in the end we have a FM button and in my eyes a realy friendly community hop in and ask in ch1. Or try to pm me next time i have almost everytime a char on Victoria Island.
