I already know this will be declined to a certain percentage of 99,99 but it's worth a shot... Right? Anyway, I personally feel like having white scrolls and dark scrolls and even perfect weapons completely take away the real old school nostalgia. For what I see having a +7 weapon with 60% scrolls, is supposed to be a god, not a +45 (and godly) weapon. Where even 4th job, and Leafre don't exist. So in short, a second server next to Scania that we already have. A v45 server (or just the same source) with all the features taken away, with 2 times exp rate. I know this is a rhetorical question, because 1 it will take too much work and 2 people like the server as it is. But I have hoped for a v45 or below server since I can remember... So never thrown is always miss.. Right? PS: Don't throw food at me for this, I have talked to other people about this suggestion and I have seen many wanting to play such a server.
You can't just simple set a v45 or any version, you need code it. Every version use different packet formation, headers, and encryption. So you can't example just copy pasta a v62 source for a v45 client. You need convert a lot of stuff, or even totally re-code it due to major differences in the client coding. This is pretty much as much work as what Kevin is right now doing regarding making a source from scratch that is v83. The least you can do is use the v62 client and .wz edit every map and feature out that v62 had to offer. But than you still have a lot of client-based things that are hardcoded in the client, similar as v83 having things hardcoded that Royals team probably can't fully remove but only disable with server sided checks.
If you would try going to other training spots that you feel nostalgic instead of the new maps and avois using scrolls you feel should not exist you can. Other than lower exp rate you don't have to do anything that you feel is not nostalgic.
You can't add a new server on the same client with different versions. They would have to make a stand-alone v45 client in order for your suggestion to work.
You could adjust the EXP rates (assuming this is server-sided), but not the content. Since both servers would be using the same client, they'd have to use the same source. Therefore, any changes that require .wz file editing would affect both servers.
It would need to be a new client (as Kimberly pointed out) if it were to be exactly like v0.45. However there's nothing stopping us from opening a new world somewhere down the line that doesn't have things like White Scrolls, Chaos scrolls, or gachapon at all for that matter. And it could have a lower EXP/Drop rate.
Anyone who is remotely competitive like me and many others will not enjoy the server if others have the option to use them. You might feel the nostalgia a bit more, but that doesn't take away that in the end, you'll be at a big disadvantage if you stick with it. The idea itself is nice, although I wouldn't play it much myself; I've tried other 2x or 1x EXP servers and the grind is too tedious for me. I barely grind on Royals (although I'm changing that!)... let alone on half the XP rate.

While I'd be interested in paying such a server, because that's actually what I consider "old" maple to be (royals is the version I quit at, so it's the newest maple I ever played) and agree that gacha, white/chaos/dark scrolls and peripheral atk gear like fs, pgc, etc. really changed the feeling of the game, I'm against the idea purely because I love what royals is, and I don't want to potentially take away from the community we have, which I feel this would do.
There are V0.40 sources. But for the time being why not just stay 3rd job, don't job advance at all, and train at Ludi?
I like 4th job and leafre. I hate white scrolls and chaos scrolls. Whatever happened to good old fashioned scrolling?
I personally would love to get back that awesome feeling of when you land a 10% and then 6 60%'s on a weapon. It happened to me just once back in around 2006 before white scrolls, chaos and even dark scrolls existed. Best thing ever.
I didn't think there was a demand for such a server; after having seen a couple of "truly nostalgic" servers pop up on the market only to disappear a few weeks/months later. They never last. But MapleRoyals will last; and if MapleRoyals were to set up a new secondary world it too would likely last. And it would be much easier for the already existing Royallers to try the experience out here, rather than having to download and install the client of a separate server. If they don't like it, they can just re-log and switch back to Scania.
I like this suggestion however, I find that 4th job is such a huge, benefit to the games depth. Something I personally find removes that 'old school' feel a lot more is having maple weapons perma in the game. You never get any variety in your gear this way. I think that should be an addition to what you said. However, there are still some other issues at hand such as gear having a -/+5 stat points on it ontop of the already potential fluctuation the item originally has. I am all for the idea of removing chaos and white scrolls or, at least, making them extremely hard to obtain and thus, very uncommon (or gm event only or something etc).
"Actual nostalgic" is very subjective, and to most people on the server it is actually nostalgic. I started GMS in v43 so not having Dark Scrolls wouldn't be nostalgic for me. White Scrolls and Chaos? Maybe, but they're not anti-nostalgic like Vicious Hammers or Wheels. To some Big Bang might be nostalgic considering it came out about five years ago. White and Chaos Scrolls are already very hard to obtain, considering you can only get them from NLC and Showa gach respectively. And at a super low rate. Otherwise they wouldn't be so expensive. EDIT: Also considering Royals was originally billed as a v62 server is this suggestion really nostalgic?
