Hey! So Korg brought up an idea in my Discord chat today after I recorded a botter yesterday. The botter ended up getting banned. The idea is to encourage players to actively report botters or hackers by offering rewards. Maybe the top 3 contributors could get Rare NX or some other prize. It would give players more reason to help keep the server clean while making it more fun. This wouldn’t mess with game balance, if anything, it would make the game fairer and improve the community. More players would be motivated to report rule breakers instead of ignoring them. What do you think?
while we at it, the #1 contributor to catching botters would get to choose which class gets deleted - Night Lords / Corsairs.
I like the spirit of this, and more titles would be great! At the same time, I suspect it could create a weird incentive for people to create bots to be "found and reported" so they (on their main, or their friends) could get the medal
El Nath and Sleepywood are great places to start. You'll often see hackers appearing/disappearing on the portal to El Nath Market and throughout the dungeon (drake's meal table for example). Happy hunting!
The issue with a reward for catching bots is that it has to 1. not provide any market value 2. not identify who is filing the reports, otherwise there is risk of retaliation I think the best "reward" is to create a leaderboard where every time a bot is caught, you record which map they were botting on. Then periodically update us with a spreadsheet of all maps and how many bots were caught on each map. This way, people can contribute anonymously, but they'll still be able to see a public record of their contributions
