While I was voting tody, I read the starting line of the server's description, ' Experience vintage gameplay, Omok, Match Cards, all the PQs of old,' You can see Omok right there in the first sentence, yet farming 99 pieces is so hard and rare few people own a set and you rarely see them, hardly the first feature you use to describe our server. As this is a nostalgic feature and hardly a game breaking decision, I recommend making Omok more accesible by either lowering the amount of pieces needed to make a set or raising the Omok Pieces droprate. after hours spent farming including some with full screen AoE attacks I've gathered about 120 pieces out of the 198 needed.
Hi Bart! I personally oppose this idea. Those who've farmed those pieces probably worked hard to make the set, which is why not many people have them; it takes motivation to farm those pieces. It wouldn't be totally fair for those people if the drop rate increased or lowering the amount. In addition, just hours spent on farming the pieces is not too bad. When I played in GMSfor the servers that needed 99+99, it took me about a week to farm the set, if not, more. Besides, wouldn't it feel better if you were one of those people to actually own a set? We already have enough conveniences on this server; just appreciate it.
As much as I would love for it to be easier since I love Omok, I have to agree with @Ampharos on this one.
This is the only reasonable explanation I could find for not changing the Omok set, but my counter arguement is that it's hardly unfair to players as there's no actual advantage to owning a set, thus I wouldn't count this as a convinence based change that makes life easier for players. This means that in order to play Omok you have to either be rich enough to buy the pieces, or spend a ridiculous amount of time to farm the pieces. I figure that if you want people to really have to option of playing Omok, you should induce this change into the game. I can't accept the claim that changing Omok to be accessabile would harm players who already have the set. If you owned a set would you really care of other people could enjoy it too or would you be happy to be one of the 5 players who own an Omok set that never gets used because people just don't do it in this server ?
It doesn't take that long to obtain a full set if you know what you're doing; I gathered mine from start to finish in less than an hour. You can get 99 pink teddies in a few minutes by simply going through every channel in Terrace Hall and asking people training there for their pieces. After that, it only took me about 40 minutes of farming at panda teddies with genesis to get 99 panda pieces.
I believe that the major issue here is whether should Omok be hard to acquire or not. If it's hard or not might be debatable, but first we need to ascertain if Omok should be easily obtained or not. Omok has no influence on gameplay, meaning that the difficulty for acquiring a set has nothing to do with the difficulty of the server itself. I agree with seanc's point that items and quests shouldn't be too easy, but I fail to understand why would you want to inhibit players from using a fun feature. I tried finding addtional points in favor of making Omok hard to obtain to counter but I simply can't think of any good reason. I'd love to hear more reasons on why should Omok be hard to get, as well as an official post in the matter.
It's not hard to get at all. It takes time, that's all. People often say something is hard, when in reality it just takes a while to do.
That very well may be. But I'm trying to reach a consensus here about should it be easily obtained or not, before exploring what is it's current status.
Well, seeing as this server strives to be GMS-like, it should be obtained in a GMS-like way, which it is. And that way happens to be easy, but (a little) time consuming.
Actually, 99 each,198 of omok pieces in total is actually quite reasonable to make a omok set.Technically,as you can see from the screenshot, the maximum number of omok pieces you can place on the table is 15 x 15 = 225 pieces.Instead of requiring 225 or 226(it should be an even number) omok pieces, you are required to get 198..
