    Dear MapleRoyals Administrators and Community,

I am writing this appeal after my account, "MyN1gga," was banned. I believe this action was taken unfairly, and I hope to share my perspective in a way that helps you understand my point of view.

As a black man, my choice of this username is rooted in my culture and personal experience, and I feel it has been misunderstood.

The word in my IGN is a complex and sensitive part of my heritage.

For many in the Black community, it has been reclaimed as a term of pride, resilience, and shared history. Growing up, I’ve seen it used in my community with love and I am happy to be referred to as a , reflecting our strength in the face of historical oppression.

My username was chosen to express this, and to carry a piece of my identity into the MapleRoyals world.

I understand that this word can be controversial, especially when viewed outside the context of my lived experience. However, I believe it’s unfair for others (particularly those who don't know what it's like to be black) -- to dictate how I express my identity.

My username was never intended to harm or offend anyone in the MapleRoyals community. Instead, it was a reflection of who I am and the culture I hold dear. Being banned for this feels like a rejection of my identity, and it’s been deeply painful to lose access to a game that has brought me so much happiness.

I kindly ask the MapleRoyals team to reconsider this ban with an open heart. I’m not just a username; I’m a person who loves this game and respects its community.

I want to continue being a positive part of MapleRoyals, forming friendships and sharing in the adventures that make this server special. I hope you can see my perspective and understand why this username is meaningful to me.

If there are concerns about my account name, I’m open to having an honest conversation about how we can address them while respecting my identity. I truly believe that with understanding, we can find a way forward that allows me to remain a part of this community, and keep my username.

Thank you for taking the time to read my appeal. I hope you can feel the sincerity in my words and consider reinstating my account.

MapleRoyals means a lot to me, and I’d be heartbroken to lose it over a misunderstanding.

Hey, you are not permanently banned - as I explained to you in game, you need to submit a ban appeal to get the IGN in question changed. You will need to do that.
    https://royals.ms/forum/forums/ban-appeal.8/

I also said that if you disagreed with us having this rule, that you should make a feedback thread to see how others feel about it. It is great to see that you have done this, and in a mature and well thought out way. But you still need to make your ban appeal to get the IGN changed. Once the admins have had a chance to change it (during a server check), you will be unbanned, and able to play Royals again.

Thanks for that. I have responded to your ban appeal.

Please keep this feedback thread focused on your feedback about the ToS, and refrain from discussing your ban on it any further.

Thanks for your feedback. We understand the word in your IGN may have cultural or personal significance, and that it wasn’t meant to offend. But the bottom line is this: the N-word - even in reclaimed or altered forms - is still considered a racial slur and isn’t allowed in usernames on MapleRoyals.

This rule isn’t targeting you, and it’s not about ignoring the context behind the word. It’s about keeping things fair and consistent. We don’t allow any racial slurs in IGNs - regardless of who’s using them or why - because usernames are public and seen by all players, including those who may find the word offensive.

Even if someone is Black, allowing the N-word in usernames creates problems we can’t realistically moderate. We can’t verify a player’s racial background, and making exceptions would open the door to abuse, trolling, and inconsistency. In public spaces like this, shared rules matter more than individual intent.

You’re welcome to continue playing with a different name that follows the rules. Your ban was issued for the IGN itself, not your identity - and that same decision would be made for any other racial slur, regardless of who used it.
