Currently the range between minimum and maximum spawnrate is low, especially for area bosses with faster spawn time. Increasing the range from (-20% +20%) to (-30% +30%) will result of more spawns being missed by people who follow spawn timers and perhaps will enable the average player to finish his olaf quicker. I would also suggest lowering the respawn time of Blue Mushmom and Black Crow from the current 23 hours to something a little bit smaller. Area boss spawnrate for reference of discussion in this thread: https://royals.ms/forum/threads/all-area-bosses-in-mapleroyals.380/
agree with blue mushmom time way too long for a weak are boss, now black crown is something like a pianus current time should be fine, also some people train on that map that whould be a problem. Not sure with increasing the range whould help , some times i am farming ToT and in under 10 minutes 6 people come check for Dodo.
well the idea with increasing the range is to make the spawn more random and less predictible to disway people who track timers to sit for long on the same map. It should not change the average spawn time so there wont be any sense of change for casual billy who just wanna get his olaf done or get some card. People who 24/7 sit on area boss maps and monopolize the mobs with timers will have harder time to do so and will need to invest more time if they would wanna keep doing so after that change. It will also make the spawns less synced for a single mob Like it happens currently when someone clears all the channels for a mob.
Making the timers more random or longer isn't going to necessarily discourage the campers. It just makes it harder for the average person trying to get through quest/olaf/card since they have to wait longer for a respawn. The main reason the campers are there is to farm the NX. So just nerfing the NX rate and/or remove drop of 5K would make the campers invest in other parts of the game and allow the bosses to be more commonly seen by the average player. I think Staff should slightly increase the NX from limited daily bosses (i.e. chao/eph/pap) in return. Originally, the point of area bosses was to complete quests and potentially acquire decent scroll/items (i.e. ilbi) in GMS and later on get cards. Staff added nx to area bosses to make them more worthwhile to do. And then later Staff gave Olaf to give a better draw to area bosses as well. Did Staff (or Matt) intend for people to spend their whole time monopolizing certain area bosses so that people are unable to complete quests/collect cards and are at the behest of campers? I think Matt obviously didn't want this since he made the decision to move Chaos Scroll from Lyka to Zakum... Also agree on lowering BMM and Black Crow to normal area boss timer (and also think Black crow should be nerfed to be a boss a duo lv100 party can fight).
Increasing the range from +/- 20% to +/- 30% does not change the AVERAGE spawn time, it increases the VARIATION of spawn times. Those are 2 different mathematical concepts. The idea here is the increasing the variation makes it harder to camp spots because a boss with a 3-hour average respawn goes from a 72-minute variation (180 x (1.2 - 0.8)) to a 108-minute variation. (180 x (1.3 - 0.7)) Campers would find consistently grabbing all 20 channel spawns of a boss more difficult/annoying but, more importantly, they'd be more likely to have some spawns slip through the cracks. I agree they still won't stop, but I strongly believe this would INCREASE the likelihood that a person checking all 20 channels at a random point in time will find at least 1 boss spawn.
Great idea, scanning channels 1 to 20 for a single boss for olaf is such a pain sometimes, itd be nice to actually have better odds of finding a random one. Also like you said, killing an area boss in all channels is very rewarding to one single individual, increasing the chance in variance might help spread the wealth a little more to others without a timer. I dont see the downside!
glad to see the decrese in spawn timers for some of the mobs listed in this post, will keep it open for the 2nd suggestion of spacing mob spawns
