I slightly scanned the forum for this suggestion, and I could not find this specific one, so I hope I'm not reposting anything.

To put it briefly, Monster Carnival 1 seems a lot slower than Monster Carnival 2, and this is in regard to the exp reward at the end of the -match-.

Monster Carnival 1 tiers give a lot less in comparison to 2. Let me explain:

Monster Carnival 1 Reward - A - 30,000 exp - from 45-51, It drastically slows down, and the rewards amount to around 4-5%

    Monster Carnival 2 Reward - A - 200,000 exp - from 65-71, you still feel a boost of 10%+ per round.

This is obviously a substantial difference in exp, and it shows, because in Monster Carnival 1, you get more exp from killing mobs and the reward seems rather faint in comparison. While, in Monster Carnival 2, the mobs are okay, but the volume of exp is still achieved through the reward system. (in my case, I used death teddies)

I know this is a simple comparison, but there really isn't anything more to add. The % given is basically halved near harder levels for Monster Carnival 1, making it much more grindy than Carnival 2, which in essence, should not be the case at all. I understand that perhaps the exp from the mobs balances it out, but those who cannot contribute to the fight as much, are the ones who would suffer from this.

My suggestion would be to raise the reward of Carnival 1 to match the 10% exp reward from 2.

I obviously haven't looked into the exp tree, but I believe the tier list should be something like this:

    For the winners side.

    A- 48,000 exp - should be about 9-10% by 50.
    B- 35,000 exp
    C-25,000 exp
    D-15,000 exp

    for the losers side.

    A-16,000 exp
    B-11,500 exp
    C-8,500 exp
    D-3,000 exp

I would love to hear your thoughts on this, and thank you for reading.

    I think that CPQ2 needs a change. I disagree about CPQ1 needing a buff.

CPQ1 is very active content and it gives a very good amount of exp regardless of the end of PQ reward. The reason being that all the mobs in CPQ are leech-able from the start (level 30). CPQ2 however, has all high level mobs which means if you are a low level:
    1. you dont get bonus exp for party attacking
    2. you dont get credited exp for party member's mobs slain.
    3. you are losing exp by leeching higher level teammates in your party.

I think the endgame exp in both PQs should not even be discussed. If CPQ1 was a bad content we wouldn't see it being as active content as it is right now and leveling is too easy as it is.

The only change I would suggest for any of these party quests would be lowering the mob level for the 2nd PQ so low-level players in CPQ2 will stop getting abused :'(

The issue here is, I'm a new player, I know very little, and I have suffered going through both PQs, and I can tell you, it is not a fast leveling process. I've personally tested mobs outside of PQ, and if I killed something my level, it would probably be just the right amount of exp per 10 minutes, without the bonus included. That is not -fast- for neither of these cases. Spending long hours a day, doing the same content because it yields the most exp rate for my case is not a healthy choice, nor is it considered quick. Remember, I am new, I am not looking to be leeched, I am looking to play the game with the bare minimum, so your experience is definitely different from my own, and of course, I refuse to buy leeches and partake in this senseless economy, because I am here to experience the game, and finding oddities, like earning twice the amount of exp in the higher levels, is a bit farfetched and should probably be looked at.

If I recall, the leveling process is supposed to get harder as we go, and this is slightly backwards, so I can see that a correction, which wasn't made by wizet/nexon/anyone responsible for it, should be made. Remember, I am not looking at this game through nostalgia glasses, I am looking at it quite literally, and it literally is backwards and quite punishing in the early levels, when it should not be. CPQ2 is fine as it is, and I felt a lot less strain running through it, which is a wonderful feeling after finishing the first process. Fortunately, I have left this area of my maple life and I hope I never need to relive it. :D

Well, I understand your standpoint but making changes in the game should take account of both new players and advanced. Buffing CPQ1 will only make leeching in the PQ, which is very common, a way too fast of leveling.

As for the "Nostalgic experience" that you are looking for, I have always supported making the game more playable and less mule-able to keep the old school experience of the server. That is also why I always take the side of making the leveling experience harder. Leveling back in the day was a process of week and weeks of grind. In my opinion leveling an account today, even without leeching, is extremely fast. I don't see an issue with the exp that is gained by doing CPQ1.

I would also like to ask you what class did you level when you did CPQ1. Some classes excel better in this PQ than other. Maybe that could have impacted your experience in leveling? That is not to say that the PQ needs balancing according to jobs. Each job is better at different part of the game and that is what give them 'character'. If all jobs were good at everything, and everyone had ultimate ability, the game would just look like nowdays GMS.

I'm glad to hear the leveling process is a lot easier than it feels, because it means once I learn these things, it will accelerate, so thank you for that. As for the PQ, I only merely want to see a balance in the reward structure 12% at 70 vs 5% at 50 is quite a stretch. At the time, I was using a warrior, and then a lightning mage (which was more fun/cruel at the same time) I even tried a buccaneer to shoot them down before they got to me, and all roads really lead me to use a lightning mage or a warrior. I personally like mages more in this game, which I know will be my biggest fault, but I am not here to run a meta. I was also fond of a cleric once the ghosts were summoned, and that was -fun- (lacking a challenge whatsoever) so I was quite comfy with it. Honestly though, I'm just glad to have reached 3rd job, so I can earn a bit more mesos and actually play the game outside of singular instance. :D

As someone muling and self-leeching in CPQ it isn't that exciting of content and it isn't as fast without the Leecher level high end gear. Honestly I've been going back to Wraith Leech instead.

If anything I feel like the Nerf to Goby leech also damaged CPQ. Now you can't find random people waiting for parties it seems. It's always a seller with one buyer, who finds the 1-2 people waiting. Unless you're also selling that seems to be the only way to find a party.

So much of CPQ is waiting around, finding a party. The fact that people are smega'ing now looking for CPQ 2v2's should tell something like that.

The way I imagined it is that LPQ was the if you're willing to put in the work looking for a party you get the best ROI XP wise. (And glasses)
CPQ was the well there's always somebody you could pick up a party real quick, but they weren't always great.
Grinding was a last resort if your party was really dumb, it was a dead hour, or something.

Sadly I think we're at the point where grinding has become a more reasonable option based on the feedback of this newer player and I don't think they're wrong, and I wish we could elevate PQs a bit more

One additional problem for new players is that CPQ doesn't generate mesos, it's hard to go from "Go CPQ for 20 levels" to buy a zhelm for new players without funding.

LPQ at least gives Ciders, Capes to NPC, etc.
People who collect coins are discouraged or not invited by sellers looking to min/max.

I don't have a solution, but the problem should be analyzed.

I actually considered grinding on many occasions, and found it was a lot more fun, and promising. The exp threshold was a bit off from cp1, but earning 30m zenny was something beneficial in the long run. So I do agree that this area of the game should be analyzed a bit, because it was quite gruesome, and almost feels like it was time wasted. Appreciate your thoughts on this, thank you. :D

A bit off topic, but have you tried just doing quests? I'm currently leveling my 8th character through 2nd job, and I still enjoy doing quests. This is nostalgic to me, and doesn't feel tedious like CPQ does.

CPQ was originally supposed to be exciting pvp content. But the min max meta here has caused it to degenerate into leech and/or win trading nonsense. My personal opinion as a player is that the entire thing should be nuked, but obviously that is not a very popular opinion.

I'm super new, so quest locations weren't my forte at the time. I did run a few of the sleepywood quests within the cave, and did some repeatable ones, but anything beyond that, I have not considered, as the option to do CPQ opened to me, and I decided to stay the course @_@

Fair enough. Give it a go though on your next character. Although the exp is slower than CPQ, I find it easier to do for a long time, and so overall it works out better for me. This could be worth checking out too :D

See I always grew up playing Clerics, so for me the most nostalgic experience has been the PQs. Hell I got to beta test CPQ on Tespia (Fun Fact: The first SleepyWood guide ever was mine)

I only like the nuke CPQ option because it'd push more people to LPQ (Hopefully?)

The problem I think even Nexon realized though is the grind to 70 isn't the most fun. That's why they kept adding so much pre-70 content back in the day. LPQ, OPQ, CPQ, etc. Especially as they churned through players.

The problem we've got is literally almost every guide on the forums says, "Uhhh just CPQ until 50 then buy a zhelm"

I think we should take a page out of their book and add something fun for the pre-50/pre-70 crowd somehow, that is a good way to get some XP.

I'm already 70 and still don't have mine. Not quite sure where to ask or who to buy from. I would personally prefer to run through the dungeon with those willing to join me, but I am noticing a lot of "just leech" suggestions, so I'm not sure if this area is active aside from the "carry" group.

Honestly in your boat, I'd go PPQ, you'll get a nice 'close enough' helm for free and it's great XP.
