At the same time, the price of the mace is lower than that of the sword. However, my friend told me that from a practical point of view, swords are better. Because： 1. The sword's attack speed is faster. 2. The sword has better liquidity and is easier to buy on the market. 3. The mace is more difficult to strengthen and there are fewer strengthening scolls. Two hand sword is best when you are using strong attack pots like Onyx apples. Two hand BW is a meme sadly. One hand sword and bw isn't that huge of a difference, but sword is a bit stronger due to stab/slash ratio iirc. BW is generally cheaper though, and crushed skull at 120 is a very strong weapon. With booster and speed infusion (buccaneer buff, if one of your friends is one you'll love them) I think both crushed skull and 1h swords max out in speed. Another thing about 2H is that your range is a bit better. In some cases this does not matter, but it makes grinding and some bosses (I think Zakum arms) a bit easier.
Like you suggested, sword for dps, mace for theme. 1h bw is pretty decent with crushed skull, so if you like the hammer theme then you could still go with that. 2h bw is not a meme, you just hit ~25% less dps, but I think it fits the theme best
I went with sword on my paladin because it’s the most flexible, people already spoke about 2h but I’d like to shoutout pyrope/flame sword. It gives you max attack speed with just booster making it an excellent weapon for some situations where si isn’t available. You can have a 2h sword too and switch as needed. Heroes can also use swords so if you decide to make one in the future you would already have a weapon for it!
With SI, 1h BW is higher DPS than 1h sword, even with perf weapons, >100 CGS, and VL pot, because crushed skull has significantly more WA Generally this question is 1 handed or 2 handed: For 2 handed, you go sword because 2h BW are truly awful. This is highest theoretical DPS 1 handed allows use of a shield, unlocking the guardian skill (25% chance to ignore an attack and KB the enemy), which can be very powerful. It's definitely saved my life a few times. At this point, your choice is between sword and BW. 1h BW is higher DPS than 1h sword, but requires Speed Infusion 1h Sword has an option (flame sword) to be at max speed without SI, with can be very helpful if you do a lot of solo content and don't have an SI mule. You can also easily swap to a 2h sword when you want (this does take having multiple weapons though, which isn't cheap)
