Problem: Unintentionally hit "Cancel" on White Scroll Prompt (10/02/2025 11:34 P.M. PST) when scrolling a perfect 42/8, 4 slot Dark Battle Lord overall.

Details: Long shot! So I haven't actually played in a couple of years (with the exception a few log-ins). Decided to sell an item to fund some WS to finish scrolling my overall. And on the very first scroll, I for some reason hit "cancel." I'm not sure if it was because I misread the prompt, if I misclicked, or if I thought "cancelling" would undo the scroll so that I could check to see if my set-up was correct (I have been playing reboot and so I am used to just "cancelling" to leave the "enhancement" window). I ended up booming the item later on my 3rd attempt of a CSS 20 (have it on video as well). Was wondering if there was any way to restore this item to its 4 slot state? (Not asking for the CSS mesos back or anything post-ws fail.) In the video, you can see I have 47 WS in my inventory and the problem happened on my first attempt. You can also see that I immediately went to another scroll to keep scrolling but that’s when I realized I messed up lol. Given the amount of WS in my inventory, the recording and set-up, and my reaction afterwards, it is evident that not using a ws was not my intention. Similar to “accidentally deleting a character,” I was wondering if that could apply here?

    Thanks :)

Editedit: Even though Tim said “no,”
—(though, I think the situation was unclear as I only said “if I have a vid of me hitting cancel instead of ok on a ws prompt, is there any chance I could get the item restored?” Which could be interpreted as I purposely clicked it, and the response given of “no that works as intended” seems to convey that interpretation. In which case, I extend an apology for my response if that was the interpretation and not a strict “no” for every case)—
given that character deletion can be restored if proven to be an accident, then I think it’s fair grounds for restoration to be applicable here.

They stopped providing this type of service years ago, way before I joined the game. To ensure minimum staff interference with mistakes. As for accidental cancellation of ws prompts, if yours is restored, Tim is gonna have many others throughout the past years he’s gonna have to do as well.

I think it's a case-by-case thing. But I don't see why not if "accidental character deletion" can be restored. In addition, to your last point, from both mine and your's many years of being here, we should both know that retroactively applying bans or unbans is not very common (perhaps more common for the former). For example, the biggest one being that you cannot be perma-banned for harassment anymore (unless that changed again?). What about the countless people that were banned for "three strikes you're out" but remain banned today?

I get what you’re saying. Harassment one was changed. If we’re going by the changes, then the likely best bet for your case is a feedback thread for staff to implement return of items with sufficient evidence, little history of scrolling and has attempted to recover slot with no refundable CSS. As returning items by accident is not a service they provide nowadays, your item may not be returned even if the feedback is successful, but that, of course is up to staff’s decision.
This is pretty much coming from the multiple accident not using ws in previous character issue threads, where staff says they can’t do anything about it.

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide a refund due to the player's error
(We are only able to do so if the game is bugged, such as the deduction of a slot despite the white scroll used)

    Sorry for any disappointment

No problem—I figured it was the case with the current set of rules.
Genuine question though: Why is character restoration a thing? It is also due to the player’s error.

There are times where players misclick the button and we would offer restoration under certain requirements, it isn't restoration for every single deletion
    https://royals.ms/forum/threads/character-restoration-accidentally-deleted-a-character.244568/

For cases like yours, it's difficult for us to come up with the requirements to make the restoration possible
Note: this applies to any other cases such as accidental drop/trade of items as the verifying of items ownership can be complicated

While I agree that lumping all cases of dropping/trading together can get complicated, I do not see why misclicking a ws prompt is tantamount to that and not character deletion. In fact, the entire first portion of your reply describes (and as evidenced by my video) my case, just replace the very last word of “deletion” with the word pertinent to the case. Furthermore, it is much harder to “accidentally delete a character” than it is to misclick the ws prompt (there is even an extra “are you sure?” message for the former), much less prove the accident. If “by accident” is the metric and (presuming) “evidence” is the decider, I just don’t see how character deletion can take precedence over/not equivalent to misclicking a ws prompt, especially considering it is harder to achieve the former.

These aren’t your rules, so I am not directing this to you. At the end of the day, it is my mistake. However, it is frustrating to know that item restoration was a thing in the past (even if case-by-case) and that something very similar to that is offered now, but not for items.

Aside from the issues others have mentioned, allowing 'refunds' in these situations would be a terrible idea, because it would be abusable. Let's just say the 10% scroll had actually worked, without a ws. Would you be here making a thread about it to say that the stats from the last 10% scroll should be removed from the item, and the item set back to 4 slots? Probably not - you would have no reason to.

I'm not saying that you were trying to abuse the system, but you need to see it from our point of view. If we were to restore the lost slot in this case, then we would have others trying their luck, and then insisting that they had not intended to do this if it fails. They would make fake videos to act surprised, when in fact they were not at all.

We do not have the resources to try and determine who is telling the truth and who is not. We do not deal with these on a case-by-case basis, we just give a blanket no to it.

I am not really sure what you are referring to by this.

I genuinely appreciate the response, but I don’t see how it reconciles the fact that accidental character deletion restoration is a thing.

    1. While not the case, I see where you are coming from and respect this hypothetical.
    2. Let’s say people did this. At best they would benefit from one ws saved as I highly doubt they would get a second restoration. Every appeal, restoration and return is case by case, right? No shot the second case would be seen as an accident and would undoubtedly be refused.
    3. I’m shooting some salt here and probably shouldn’t have made that as a generic statement. I’m referring to event(s) pertaining to “item restoration” that occurred in the past involving gm(s) and other player(s).

I still honesty have no idea what you are referring to. You mean back when this server was a few months old and run as a small informal server that was likely only temporary?

Not abusable + likely to have more severe consequences in leading to players wanting to quit + easier to verify on our end.

Sorry I’m not sure how to quote specific passages, at least not on phone anyway^_^'

    1. No, definitely much later! Said event(s) did not occur through an appeal and I’ll just leave it at that.
    2. If you consider, at best, a 1 ws gain abuse, then sure. But in this hypothetical, I really doubt a large player-base is going to attempt that, especially if it’s case by case anyway. Regardless, while not “abusable,” I imagine it’s tougher to verify it was an accident? I would also imagine people mostly click on the character itself to log in and not the “select character” button, making it less likely (but not impossible) to be an accident?
