As a heads up, You don't have to beat Pap to do Ellin Pre-quests. You get the Quest to get the Ludi Medal + Battle Pap at the same time as you unlock. (IE After the 3 crack pieces)

Also I know it's not really better, but no Toad Headband?
Couldn't in theory a Sair solo Toad so they don't have to hunt for Goggles?

I know it's not BIS but it's got to be potentially more economical?

Hello twin!

• Papu: I didn't know that Pap isn't required for Ellin! I'll adjust it to say that it's highly recommended to do it anyway, as it's along the way and the preqs are early level.
• Toad Headband: For my guide I'm not really adding anything that I haven't fought before, as I wouldn't be confident about my info. There's a lot of things you have to do access toad (like a jump quest and finding anyone who'd even run it with you). You also need 16k HP to survive the mapwide attack... it's not accessible to everyone Personally, I feel like the effort you need to get a Toad headband isn't very justifiable for a few stats until you're very lategame (as with most eye accessories).

 

Pap preq is required, just the final quest of killing pap is optional

Also, you don't have to do the Jump Quest, if you do the quest line (Gather 50 of x and 100 of y type of quest) you'll get the option to pay 3mil to skip it.

The HP requirements are high still, but otherwise it's not actually that intense of work.

Hey twin! I just did my first Toad today so I'll be adding both the fight and Toad Headband into the guide itself.

With Hyper Body and enough HP, it definitely is doable now that I've done it.
No one told me that the boss fight was the easiest part of the questline...

My first headband is complete butt!

I'm not sure if the EXP/Time is worth it versus buying Goggles I know it's not BiS, but it's doable and the avoid could in theory be useful.

It may be butt, but you don't have to put butt on your face! (Unless you're into that)

 

Current to-dos:

• Update Dragon Revolver prices once it sells (one got gacha'd in 5 tix today by @Jabrewski )
• Add Castellan Toad into bossing section (did it today first time )
• Add Toad Headband into eq list as potential equip
• Add estimated HP thresholds to survive common bosses for HP washing section (feels it needs specification)
• Add Rose Garden for Corsairs (I have no idea what I'm doing)

• Separated bosses into individual spoiler buttons to make them noticeable.
• Added Castellan Toad bossing section.
• Added Ninja Toad Headband into equip section.
• Adjusted Dragon Revolver pricing in equip section.
• Some formatting adjustments and rewording.

Rose Garden soon tm

 

Updated today:

• Added Elemental Boost calculation - it's an additive skill (ty @ImVeryJelly as I couldn't find answers anywhere else). Added proper damage calcs for Torpedo VS Elemental Boost.
• Added fix for Ice Splitter not freezing mobs; apparently you have to run royals with Windows 7 compatibility???
• Added estimated HP reqs for bosses that need washing in the HP washing section.
• Renamed the boss sections into "Lv. 120+/135+ bosses".

I'm currently without a computer for a while, so Rose Garden will happen when I can. I've already recorded footage to make into gifs and have a general idea of what to do there now.

 

Updated today:

• Some wording adjustments in the “Why play Corsair” section.
• Updated Air Strike and MW after my experiences with Rose Garden (I fully regret adding Air Strike instead of MW9 now lol).
• Added Rose Garden WIP…. which promptly didn’t save. Twice. Thanks forum.

Rose Garden will be added slowly as I’m still computerless. There will be a section for bonus room 1 and 3 as I feel both are pretty good for Corsair (for different reasons).
I also did my first ranged Golem run with my guild so there’ll actually be a section for it eventually!

 

a tip for Krex:
this spot in Krex is amazing because you will not fall and ur projectiles will not be blocked, however don't dismount (since you're heavier on ship you will not be moved when getting hit)

To-do list:

• NEW CORSAIR GUIDE DROPPED! It's very detailed for endgame and written by big name Corsairs so it's kinda terrifying I'll be reading through it and seeing what could apply in my guide.
• Intro: Specify that my guide is more for pure grinders/unfunded folks, and for skill/animation breakdowns. Now that there's two Corsair guides I feel this is necessary (since I'm a semi-casual pleb lol).
• Formatting: Fit even more sections into spoiler buttons and cut down on wording.
• SE vs SI tldr section: New guide has detailed stats for it so I'll update as needed. I misread SI's damage increase somewhere so I need to reword that section a bit...
• Rose Garden/Golem section: Already recorded a bunch of footage so I'm ready to start it.
• List of Useful Gear: Add rings (Ring of Alchemist, Ifia's Ring, Ellin PQ rings)

 

Duplicating the reply from my Sair guide here just because I do think a counter opinion is important here.

I definitely disagree strongly with this advice to new players as the #1 boss to fight is VL and #2 boss is Auf. Shao is a very important leveling boss giving great XP from 145 to 180+. Toad is less important but still a very signature "Corsair" fight - one of three that the community associates with bringing a Sair (Krex, Auf, and Toad are the 3 classic bosses that the whole community understands are Sair strengths).

I do not think planning to lock yourself out of the top bosses, while rolling a highly bossing-driven class, is a good strategy, and it's very slow to make up HP gaps from 10K to 18K - this will take years with Ruel.

To be honest I think this advice is very harmful to new players as they can level a character to 17X and realize they need to restart their character or be locked out of all end game content other than HT. Or spend an hour+ a day doing Ruel for years to fix their character. Easier and faster to remake character (and they will not roll another Sair in this case, I think).

And not to be elitist, but I think it is weird advice to say you can level to 200 without missing on much when your character isn't level 200 yet, there is a huge gap from 17X to 200 and to do it while locked out of Shao, Toad, Auf, and VL would be even slower.

 

Why does everyone like to lie about Reuel gains? This will take 8 months max, probably less because Olaf also exists now. That's significantly shorter than years.

And Reuel really shouldn't be taking an hour a day unless you like decide to not get a fast travel ticket

 

I've already responded to this on his own guide and I do agree with him with his other points! He's probably just giving a guesstimate since it's still many months of work.

As someone who does HP quests (all of them not just Reuel) rather than washing, it does add up very quickly (a lot faster than I imagined it being). I personally don't like INT washing though (and don't intend to ever prioritize it for HP gain) so I can't compare how much time/money you save going that route. The main thing is I find more enjoyment playing the game so I don't mind questing; this might not be ideal for others, so I get it.

I'll be editing my guide once the week ends to emphasize if HP washing is required for all content or not (it isn't for OG bosses, but definitely needed it you want to do all bosses).

 

Lying is an oddly antagonistic word choice.

I have been doing Reuel for years on my SE, Syl. If you get an easy one, and you have a fast travel ticket, it's ~25 minutes including hunting and travel time. If you get a slow one (Dark Cornians, red berries from rash, etc.) it can easily take 45 minutes of pure hunting, and that's not including travel time. Lack of fast travel ticket will add to that too.

Note these times are for a strong high level character as well. Lower levels who are not strong (and if they're not washed, I think this is more likely) will potentially take longer.

In my guide I clearly state it's an average of 35/day. If you do it every single day for a month, that's 1050. So to get from 10K HP to 18K is more like most of a year (assuming you do it every single day) than yearS, fine, I will take the correction, but it's still a long damn time. And if you are casual (again more likely here), it's more likely to be more like 15 times a month...and now it IS years.
