Remove CPQ, or get rid of the mob/win EXP it gives.

So I just made a new character out of boredom (again)

I know I've been saying this for a while: the leveling-up from 1-120 for new players is trash. I talked to a bunch of folks, made a few new friends, and asked current new players' opinions. And the consensus is that most people despise CPQ (again, for the years I've been playing). It's toxic; leech selling in CPQ isn't nostalgic at all; and new players get no real benefit from CPQ other than fast EXP. They yearn for LPQ, OPQ, LMPQ, RJPQ, anything that engages them with other players and rewards them with starting gear. I see smegas of folks begging to OPQ for the glove. RJPQ for the amulet. LPQ for glasses. But no parties in sight because everyone leeches or CPQ. New players excited to play Maple Classic come here to see what it's going to be like, and don't get that at all. They go to Legends instead; it has active PQs and better early-mid game progression. I want new players to stay on Royals; Royals GMs should too...

    Ways to fix this issue:
    Remove it. Super easy.
Remove Win/loss EXP and mob EXP. Give an alternative reward. Reward wins with CPQ Coins instead.

The 1-120 experience should be an engaging, fun process. Veteran players have the luxury of leveling up fast with ETC trade-in/Leech. But new players are left in the dark because the only route they have is a cesspool.

And I've read the arguments against this proposition; not a single one justifies CPQ existence that outweighs the benifits of removing it. There are other meso-making routes, CPQ leechers will be fine. Increasing the rewards of other PQs has already been done, but the exp gain of CPQ will keep players going just because it's the status quo. They don't CPQ because it's better than LPQ/OPQ. They go because people are there. People go where people are, even if it's stupid. Monkey see monkey do.

Cpq is actually a fun content.

I made a char myself, and had a good time with it.

You just need to find a party, and you don't have to buy leech .

So no, don't remove , it's good like this.

Also for lower lvl people or starters, CPQ is one of the most fun content in my opinion because the newer players make friends and can get along together with their journey.

The justification for CPQ existing is simply because it's FUN.
I don't really sell CPQ leech, but I partake in it regularly, on a character that's holding an Everstone just so I can keep having fun with CPQ.
You might not enjoy the content, but others do have fun with it.

Increase the other PQ's experience rates slightly, and they can compete with CPQ easily. If your claim that new players "yearn for" the other PQs, they will flock towards them if the experience gain is even slightly similar.

But I'm sorry, removing the experience from CPQ and only rewarding the players with CPQ coins is ludicrous, seeing as the rewards from those coins are pretty crappy.

You might not like the content, others clearly do.

Others do like it, but everytime I level a new character and start conversations, the majority dont like it. This go around, a group of 5 friends left to the other server after asking me a few questions about this server. And I was trying hard to keep them here.

I like hitting monsters too, and competive cpq is fun. Trade wins can become brain dead, lets admit that. Some people have fun with that, sure. It just has a negative effects that dont outweigh the enjoyment.

is this post a parody of something..?

    > the leveling-up from 1-120 for new players is trash.

It's quite literally what people are looking for when they join a low rate nostalgia server

    > I talked to a bunch of folks, made a few new friends, and asked current new players' opinions. And the consensus is that most people despise CPQ (again, for the years I've been playing)

I find it difficult to believe anybody despises optional content they'd quickly level past; even if it's not someone's cup of tea, it's not something anyone would form serious opinions about.

    > It's toxic; leech selling in CPQ isn't nostalgic at all; and new players get no real benefit from CPQ other than fast EXP.

How is it toxic? Apart from the leech sellers you don't need to interact with, it's basically the same CPQ that was released in official which was wildly popular and quickly displaced LPQ.

    > They yearn for LPQ, OPQ, LMPQ, RJPQ, anything that engages them with other players and rewards them with starting gear.

People might yearn to run old PQs for the nostalgia, but nostalgia wears off after a run or two and few actually want to spam the same PQ multiple times. Old PQs were honestly not that engaging.

    > I see smegas of folks begging to OPQ for the glove. RJPQ for the amulet. LPQ for glasses. But no parties in sight because everyone leeches or CPQ.
    > They don't CPQ because it's better than LPQ/OPQ. They go because people are there. People go where people are, even if it's stupid.

Do you believe the PQs you listed would be populated if there were no CPQ? The very fact that other PQs which share no overlap in level range with CPQ are also dead should tell you that killing CPQ won't do anything to revive LPQ (or any other PQ).

    > New players excited to play Maple Classic come here to see what it's going to be like, and don't get that at all. They go to Legends instead; it has active PQs and better early-mid game progression.

The PQs themselves are not interesting or replayable enough to keep themselves alive by their own merit, so unless rewards are massively buffed to the point they'd displace grinding or draw more established players (like via teamwork badges), they're likely to remain dead. Even in the original game, many players did not do very much PQing after their first character once they learned of better grinding options. If anything, CPQ was one of the few that people kept doing because it was just grinding but better.

    > The 1-120 experience should be an engaging, fun process. ... But new players are left in the dark because the only route they have is a cesspool.

cpq covers just 20 levels in the earlier half of this 1-120 you're speaking of & post 4th job is where this server starts to meaningfully differ from og maple. i'd argue it's the endgame experience that puts most people off this server.

Hey I think I did cpq with you and you vented frustrations a little at how boring it was and I admitted I liked it cause it was chill.
I think theres 3 big positives - It needs almost no effort to do (almost brain afk for 7 mins). It's very easy to make a party because despite it being popular you're able to do it with 3 with the kick while inside workaround. And its extremely fast/consistent, other pqs can become a mess or someone dc's and you just lose everything cause it's unwinnable. I think the only other pq with this level of ease is ppq.

It's a pretty funny case of the prisoners dilemma. If trying to win/grief the opponent is betray, and wintrading is cooperate, it makes sense why everyone wintrades. If theres two parties and one or both betrays, whoever lost isn't going to want to fight the same party again which is a big problem if theres only a few people there. It made sense in original maple where there was so many people you didn't know who you faced and matches were instant, I admit I kind of miss that but I don't think theres much you can do about it besides reworking the whole pq.

CPQ is fine the way it is. LPQ also runs in the same level bracket, thus players can choose what kind of content they prefer.
