It is extremely stupid how the leech exp ratio encourages sellers to keep their level as low as possible, leading to mass suicide as they intentionally try to lose all of their exp

This can be fixed by changing the formula such that if a player has not killed a non-boss monster in the last 30 seconds, the EXP they receive from other players' monster kills will treat the other player's level as 200 for the exp split formula.

obviously I am expecting backlash from people who spent billions of mesos on godly mage gear so they could sell 1-hit leech below lv140, and would now have to charge the same price as a lv200 leech seller. sorry. but it's for the noble cause of preventing self-harm. i hope you understand

I think it would be cleaner to just remove the level penalty term from the exp formula and have it treated as if everyone in the pt is the same level. You could also reduce server exp rate slightly if this is too much of leech exp buff.

Not all of us rely on leech though. Some of us enjoy training our own characters through 2nd and 3rd job, exploring each class's unique skills.

the suggestion to nerf xp rates across the board, if changing leeching to not care about level difference proved to be too powerful, will only punish people actually playing the game if you're referring to Heidi's response.

If anything, leech xp should be nerfed harder than it already is.

    I should've been more specific.

What's the issue with 140 and below mages selling leech for more or giving more exp? What's the noble cause here?

The fact that is encourages mages not to do one of the two main things this game is actually about?

My question is why is this problematic?
I mean. a game should reward the consistent ones. people should spend their hard earned Mesos to create more Mesos however they want.
spending billions on equips so you worth more and can sell more, seems like a fair idea of investments...
some people sell Balrog and use Everstone, some people sell Zak runs, and some people sell leech while trying to keep their level lower..
why should people be punished? Spite?

Why should people who put in effort to level their mages to 200 be punished with being excluded from one of the main activities available to them?

Zak sellers are encouraged to work on levels and gear because it makes it faster.

Bishops are encouraged to not level and not gear up once they hit 1300 tma.

Let's be honest, mages being basically locked out of actual endgame content is what makes them run in their own "ecosystem" of the game. I think that part could get some fixes first.

That would be great, yes. But this would help with it a bit too.

I think they should bring actual solutions first before using band aids. The bigger issue isn't the competition of 140 mages selling leech, because if you have a good rotation down, you will be able to sell leech at 160 and above either way. (I get that the lower levels can ask a premium or might sell faster). If it's not leeching, it will be mage farming or whatever.

Fair enough. I've always found the level penalty mechanic odd though. That being said , leech is already very overpowered on this server with the 80:40 exp split ratio (A leecher will get roughly half of the exp of an attacker).

Is this an attack on leech in general, low level twink leech sellers (outcompeting those not rich enough) or a cry for nostalgia leveling?

Not a second of my life have I sold leech but as someone that admires niche accounts that are very optimized for specific content I'd be sad to see that player expression go.

To clarify, yes I love the fact that Goby leech is a thing and Poison Myst (potentially) could've been in the past. I love that someone found the tech to sell low level Zak leech a while ago.

I have no opinion about its actual value and whether or not it needs to be nerfed. I have no understanding of its implications since I dont participate in any of it.

If the balance team wants to make mages relevant for post-lv140 bossing content, this is a necessary step in order to remove the dilemma of "should I level up more to be better at bossing, or should I stay low level to sell more expensive leech". Removing the incentive to halt your exp gain will encourage more mages to at least try out whatever bossing DPS/utility buffs they end up getting.

All that's important is that the level of the leech seller should not matter. This could have been done either by nerfing low level leech or buffing high level leech, and "buffing leech" sounded really gross so I decided not to go with that
