Hi, MapleRoyals works fine on my desktop, but I also want to play it on my laptop. I transferred the files from my desktop to my laptop and everytime I try and open via the MapleRoyals.exe the window "Failed to find prpper screen mode for Gr2D" always pops up. I've updated my drivers for DirectX and my nvidia GeForce GT630M. I've tried to set resolution to 800x600 and play but it keeps giving me the same message. All help is appreciated Thanks Scimix
Hi!, Try going into the maplestory folder and opening up the file called "Setup.exe". This should run some kind of graphics diagnostic thing for maplestory! Let me know how it goes.
I think this is a Windows 8 specific problem as I had the same problem on two different computers running Win8. Setup.exe didn't fix it for me, I had to run in Windows 98 compatibility mode (the only one that consistently fixed the problem, the other ones sometimes worked and sometimes didn't.)
It's not Win8 specific. I'm still running on XP and I got this when my Graphics Driver didn't update properly. All I had to do was re-install the drivers tho and that fixed it for me.
I can atleast confirm that it happened to me too on win8, im running in xp comatibility mode and sometimes it take a while, after 5th try. I'll try 98 mode hope it will solve that problem.
This was a problem for me, and I tried out all the solutions that were given throughout many other forums out there such as updating my drivers, reinstalling the game and running "Setup.exe". None of them worked. However this worked for me: Run it in compatibility mode. How you do this: 1. Right click the MapleRoyals client. 2. Go down till you see "Troubleshoot compatibility" and click it. 3. A window should pop up asking you if you would like to save the settings, click yes or accept. (MapleRoyals will also open up at the same time, so if you play the game in full screen, you might not see this window until you exit the game.) 4. Then, you should be good. Made this forum account, to share some information that might seem useful for you all. I hope it works for you all if everything else failed for you as well. Notes: I am running Windows 8.1 for anyone who might also be a Windows 8.1 user that is looking for answers like I was.
Unplug external monitors, If you use HDMI in your main monitor, try changing the HDMI port. also just to make sure, run this one more time. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35 Windows 98 compatibility mode and running as administrator is adviced. Also uploaded my Setup.exe for you https://mega.co.nz/#!DFBRFQLY!sAONJYuk6tW8_-AyEzI8QgxfoIeZvV9Yl_F1ipsu7vc
