Hello forum, I am new to MapleRoyals, and I discovered something untrustworthy. The "Downloads" page on the main site includes, for Windows users, two downloads that are required to play on this server. First of all, is it necessary for me to download both of them, that is, both the "Maplestory Setup" and "Windows Client"? And second of all, Chrome would barely let me download the Setup, whereas it wouldn't let me save the Client at all, because it is considered "malicious software" by Chrome. But since Chrome crashed before it could finish downloading the Setup file, I don't have either of them. Personally, this private server looks awesome. The ability to play an older version of Maplestory is a gift almost no other game offers, especially one with such significant nostalgia levels. But why infect the two files one would unquestionably need to play the game with malware? Has there been a third-party attack on the site, or would it be foolish to trust any of this in the first place? And if I need to clarify anything, I would be glad to answer questions about my situation. Any help is appreciated! Confused, CS_Uniform
The MapleRoyals.exe file gets flagged as a virus by many anti-virus programs, however it is a false positive. If you search the forum, or google, there are many pages about this issue. Unfortunately there's nothing we can do about it at the moment. https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/...f6d705e4e26ea87b86eee84f/analysis/1381693848/ http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/500619/is-this-maplestory-exe-a-false-positive/
I've manually monitored file system actions the game makes in the past and found nothing malicious except for a bug nexon made where the client changes the location of a system folder to its default location and does not change it back to your custom location. You'll be fine installing the game. Try using internet explorer if chrome blocks the download for you. If you must use chrome, you need to go into your settings and disable the block malicious downloads option. (I don't recall what it's called for sure, you might have to click show advanced settings) To get to the settings, click the bar'ed button in the top right area of the window and click settings. Sincerely, -Oldie
