failed to find proper screen mode

My friend is downloading the client for the first time on a computer, and he keeps getting this message: "failed to find proper screen mode" What should he do? Thanks!

 

Try changing compatibility.
Right click the client > properties > compatibility tab > choose run in compatibility for > select windows 98/Windows ME
The client is the mapleroyals.exe

* Try changing your screen resolution.
* Run the setup inside the MapleRoyals folder.

What type of screen is he using to play? a TV, monitor?
Is it connected through HDMI, VGA etc..?

 

We tried all of those things and none of them worked. He is using an hp notebook laptop.

 

Also, when we try to do the setup in the royals folder, it says to install direct x, but he already did.

 

What version is the DirectX?

 

Directx 10 I think. There is a new error message now when we try to open the royals client:

 

Disabling hardware acceleration might work.
Update your graphic cards driver.

That's the same error.

 

Keep doing this, using different compatibility modes, until it works.

 

I have the same problem and ive tried all the different compatibility modes still doesnt work. i really wanna play!! someone help!

 

Also, forgot to mention that it is Windows 10. Will that make a difference?
