I've checked the solutions I could find on this site about this problem and nothing has worked. I've reinstalled multiple times, my drivers are updated, I have the latest version of directx, I've tried changing my screen resolution, I've run setup.exe. What else can I do? When I go to download, is "Maplestory Setup" the only thing I have to download? I thought I remembered downloading more than that on my other computer, but that's the only thing on the download page now.

Can't say I know what causes the problem, I can give some things to try at least.

    • Try changing compatibility.
Right click the client > properties > compatibility tab > choose run in compatibility for > select windows 98/Windows ME
    The client is the mapleroyals.exe

    • Try removing/lowering hardware acceleration.
Are you using a monitor, tv laptop?
Do you use hdmi, vga etc..?
    • Check your computer for viruses, the MapleRoyals client will show up as a virus but that can be ignored.

ok, all I had to do was check "run this program in compatibility mode for" and choose windows 8. thanks! I did find that solution in another thread too, but I guess I didn't read it properly the first time
