As, i have posted about the matter earlier on in another thread.

I feel that the 3day ban is really unjustified. Alot of people has been using smuggling (when i was ludi maze pqing) and in the official version, it was used widely without any negative repercussions. Effort will still have to be used to gather up the passes and this problem occur only because the game often disconnect or kick the players out.

This is a case for concern as MOST parties are doing it. Does it mean that the administrator will ban every player that is reported? Any person can just cause another person to be banned just because a screenshot was provided? If this continue on wouldnt the administrator be fair to mete out punishment to everyone that does this? What if more and more people report this "minor abuse" just for the kick of getting someone else banned (when the person that invited them trust them?) This is a game (that was created) to promote friendliness and encourage social bonding and interaction just for old times sakes.

In other words, i feel that this matter (and other smuggling passes) should be let off (my stand) OR make the rules MORE CLEAR that smuggling passes is a bannable offense. A solid decision should be made. I feel that the banning of these people does not help to make the community and better place as these people are just playing casually and the advantage it gives to players are minimal (as compared to more other thought-provoking issues like scamming)

Just my opinion. Trying to bring up another viewpoint for administrators to see. Thank you.

A lot of the stuff you have in your original post right now doesn't necessarily apply here. The GMs have been banning any reports of smugglers and have always voiced it as being illegal. In addition, just because there is a large amount of people doing it does not make it legal.

And the primary reason that this is extended into the Glitch Abuse category is because a level 70 character can be used to farm a large number of tickets quickly, and then have them transferred onto a level 51 character to very quickly level them. In the specific case of LMPQ, the argument that "you're just getting the exp you would have anyways" becomes invalid because this is possible.

Given everything though, I do thing that smuggling is still an important part of the nostalgia in Maple. In OG Maple, it was most prominent in OPQ, but it did occur everywhere. I would personally be interested if some kind of middle ground could be reached. At the very least, in cases like this I believe some leniency can be have as there is no way for another character to benefit from the smuggling. Just like how using the mount+chair glitch doesn't benefit anything and is therefore allowed.

Copy pasting an old argument I had for smuggling:
We all know for a fact that smuggling was a huge thing in original MS. Nearly all of us did it. Although I do admit myself this argument will be be a stretch, I would like to bring it up for at least a bit of discussion and acknowledgement.
We are a nostalgia server. As such, we are trying to recreate an experience that can closely mimic what we had played back in the mid 2000s. For better, the difficulty which we once had as well as a time when the game wasn't obviously P2W, and for worse, the terrible monster scaling and the fact we basically have to force ourselves to HP wash in order to play a lot of the game.
I would argue that the fact that smuggling was prevalent in the original servers, and that we are trying to mimic these servers, smuggling is not so much abusing a glitch in MapleRoyals (i.e. exploits created while creating a private server such as duping) as it is reviving an older part of Maple. In addition, I'd argue that no-one is being hurt by the glitch. Smuggling does not affect the greater community by breaking the market, or anything of the sort. It is simply a means of leveling faster which we HAD used back in og maple.

    Quick search...
Ban Appeal dated Nov 1, 2013.

    The rules say...
    20. (Glitch Abuse) Exploit errors in design, features which are not documented and/or bugs to gain access that would otherwise not be available or to obtain any competitive advantage (Always contact a game master if you are unsure); Punishment: 1st offence - 3 day ban, 2nd offence - 7 day ban, 3rd offence - permanent ban.
Most of us know it's a glitch. It doesn't really get much clearer than this.

You don't have to do anything with your internet connection to smuggle. (Maybe there are various smuggling methods but idk)
You just have to click on the NPC and then press the loot button, that's it.

Is this the way it's intended to be? No? Then you're exploiting a glitch. It doesn't take much thought to come to this conclusion.

I'd just like to point out that there was a mass ban on GMS for smuggling in Orbis PQ once upon a time.

The NPC literally is not supposed to let you in with tickets and you find a way to get them inside anyway. We have dubbed the action "smuggling" which is an illegal act in real life. Tell me more about how you think this would be okay? ~f6

I think it should fairly common sense that finding a way to do something that an NPC is not supposed to let you do would be glitch abuse or exploiting a design flaw in some way.

I was one of those poor souls that got banned :'(

I personally love these glitch abuses/exploits you find in not only Maplestory, but MMOs in general. It's one of those dirty things you find in MMOs (and games in general really) that puts a huge grin on your face and part of the fun is discovering it and running the risk of getting caught while doing it illegally behind the admins' back. As much as I'd love to support OP's pro-stand on smuggling, glitch abusing/exploiting should 100% be bannable for all the obvious reasons. But if you're going to do it, don't get caught in the process you nubs.

Always wondered about this rule because there's apparently an exception for that. A feature in the game that gives unfair advantage but not bannable no matter how many offences made. Apparently this weird feature is called "friendship". Ridiculous right? Never have I heard such a silly name or experienced such a feature in the game or anywhere else. In short it works by having 2 or more individuals help each other out by doing favours with tasks that the other can do better or more efficient. Or they can complete common tasks which gives same rewards distributed to everyone but you gain efficiency and save a lot of time, some tasks can only be used by this unfair advantage. There's also a secret reward you gain when using this feature called a "friend". This is highly interesting, I'll look into it more.

Off topic you remind me when I did the orbis pq with the smuggling I was a 52 did and got to lol 70 in 40 hours of playing non stop lol not proud but it was awesome and when it came to banning I was already done with pq so I wasn't looked into I guess

On topic I like how it's illegal for a reason and I stand by the admins, if everything we wanted to do or get away with in game was implemented I believe the server just wouldn't last we need rules for the stability

Except for the fact that this is a MMORPG, and thus party play and friendship is encouraged. That's the whole idea behind having multiple classes to choose from, and having party-skills such as Sharp Eyes, Haste, Holy Symbol, etc.
You're obviously going to get an advantage by working together with a friend, party memeber, guild member, etc.. that's the whole idea behind parties/guilds/friends.
It can't even be compared to glitch abuse.

Glitching was only "acceptable" because Nexon didnt actually enforce most of their ToS. But does this make it legal? Heck no it doesnt.

Wanna know what else was against the ToS? Account sharing. Who didnt account share? And who was ever actually banned for that? My guild had a HS mule that was made for use by guildies and friends and it was literally played by Hundreds of players from every corner of the world. I can still log into it today. Another ToS Violation were 3rd party addons like Bots or programs that let them manipulate the game files aka hacking. Anyone who played during the period of 2007-2009 knows just how bad this got. And you never saw anything come of it. I knew hackers who duped everything, who used their hacks to kill bosses, dc players and they were never punished. Hell, even I used a packet sniffer to block spam hacks when I was trying to hit 200. Nothing ever came of this stuff. And here thankfully this stuff is actually enforced.

Ehh... I might've been joking, but I'm not entirely sure. Can you double check to make sure that I wasn't being sarcastic in my earlier post? Could you do that for me? Uhm... Thanks.

Honestly, people should just read the rules
    >states that abusing exploits is a bannable offense
    >people don't read the rules
    >proceed to smuggle tickets, which is an exploit
    >get banned
    >wonder why they got banned in the first place

Kinda hard to tell when someone is being sarcastic while communicating via text; maybe you should've made it more clear
