Hello everyone, I'm new to the server and was excited to play but somehow, after installing the game through the installer found on the main site, the .exe deleted itself. Now, I searched the forums and found two others with this problem. Apparantly it's a security issue, but I don't know how that's possible or how to prevent this. After opening the .exe it disappeared. I downloaded the launcher itself from the technical support and tried relocating it to the correct folder. It wouldn't let me (didn't have the rights to it? I only have this account and it is the admin account, weird). So, I tried repairing it through the installer but it said it couldn't place MapleRoyals.exe and I should check if I had the rights to place files there. Something it didn't ask me in the initial installation. I removed everything through the installer, tried re-installing. Same problem.... Twice. Put an exception to AVG for my whole program files folder but it wouldn't let me place the .exe there. Tried it on my other hard drive. And the whole problem repeated itself. Then I tried opening MapleRoyals.exe from my downloads folder (which should, obviously, give me an error as it is not in the right folder). But it deleted itself and windows told me it couldn't find the file that was in front of me just a second ago. So, I'm pretty sure it can't be AVG since that never had the rights to delete any of my stuff (if it did it would give me a report about it, or tell me it was quarantined). The only thing I can think of is it may be something windows 10 related. Files deleting itself is new to me, so if anyone knows anything about windows deleting ''threats'' and can help me I would be much obliged. I'm really looking forward to playing this server.
Have you tried placing the folder as an exception on AVG straight after an installation before you ever start the client? Can't quite tell from your post.
@Andreas: Thanks for the helpful comment @Stan: I made the whole program files folder an exception, then tried re-installing it in that location. Which didn't work for the .exe. I currently turned off my firewall and am trying the installation again. Will shoot down AVG too. And I'll make the installer an ''exception'' too for good measure. Will edit in results later. EDIT: Ok, so it IS my antivirus I think? Which is great because it means I got it to work now but I have no idea how to keep it working when I turn back on my antivirus. I might have to delete the thing altogether.. Anyway it seems ''sorta'' fixed (still weird that it started deleting my stuff without warning) so thank you
Let us know as soon as the installation is finished. If it still happens, the best thing I can suggest is completely removing AVG and perhaps using a different anti-virus program. In all my experience with AVG it was always very overzealous. While it's just an opinion of mine, there are much better (free or paid) anti-virus programs out there that do their job well but allow more user control.
@DontBanPlz: Installation is finished and the character is made (awesome that you have to roll for those 4's again). I'm uninstalling AVG as I'm typing. Anyway, I'll change the title to resolved. Thanks for the help and replies
Glad it's resolved for you. Unfortunately, the only issue that's left is to bring the bad news that, as far as the dice roll goes, it's not necessary to roll the dice As soon as you enter Maple Island, all your stats are set to 4/4/4/4 with 13 AP on reserve.
