Mudkip chair

So yeah...it was cool when gm used it just to show off work in progress but now 3 ppl (which seems for me like a lot for such a custom chair) have huge chair that is glaring in your eyes...i don't want to be rude or anything...i appreciate all the custom stuff but this is clearly unfinished and doesnt fit the game at all (like the chairs from higher versions that are actually made for maplestory) this is just badly keyed image that is completly different from the game and i cant belive that it was actually given out when its at first sight clearly unfinished

 

Doesn't fit the game at all and is all over my screen.
There are three of these already and it doesn't even look nostalgic at all.
You can see the pixels around them and they don't have a maple-esq look to them at all.
Not saying I can do better, but i'm just saying more development would of been nice before you released a mud kip swarm on us.

(And yeah, apparently i'm a fucking dick head for thinking this way)

But i dont get it...when you look at the chair you can clearly see that its not right...why would you give it away then why dont you finish it -_- at least the the edges so it looks more proffesional

 

Like you said, you developed the chair in 2009.
NO offense, but it just doesn't look "professional".
It could use some major work "since 2009" before a release.

for example:
1) The edges are done really badly
2) It's not pixel-e like maple story (therefore doesn't fit the game)
3) It's way WAY WAY TOO BIG.

 

It's a nice chair, it just needs some tweaks here and there.

I don't think anyone meant to come off sounding harsh. We simply noticed something was off about the chair and took the time to point it out so that it could be brought to your attention. I mean, this is the feedback thread.

Just want to put in my 2 cents:

As an artist, this looks a bit amateur; the edges are very rough and it looks like you just quickly took a lasso tool around it, and posted it as in-game content. It's nice that you want to do something for the community, but maybe make sure it's a bit more clean and suited for the community before releasing it as game content.

Also, the size seems a bit overwhelming. I understand that things aren't always going to look great the first time around -- But that's why you're a GM. You are given the ability to test out this content before releasing it to the public.

Please don't take offense to this, as it is just a critique; every artist offers advice to other artists to help improve their work.

 

Exactly, but the main point I just want to put forward is that you can't have the MR banner saying "feel the nostalgia" with a chair that doesn't even look maple-esq. It has to look like the 2D MMORPG that is Meipeul Seutori

 

My 2 cents:

Does not belong in MapleStory. A chair modelled on a Pokemon clearly has absolutely no relation to this game, therefore should not be in this game. It's also far too big and is obviously not finished as around the outside of the image you can see white pixels. All in all, it's doesn't suit MS and needs work on the graphical aspects and chairs and other content should be kept Maple-themed.

 

I came across this sprite today, and my feelings towards this sprite are identical to my feelings for the Mudkip chair. Custom content should be on par with original content both in regards to theme (should be appropriate for and related to MS) and graphical skill & art style - all of these standards in my opinion, are not being currently met, judging by the look of the new sprites (whether they be finished or not).

Okay, so we agree on the fact that

1) It doesn't fit the 2D MMORPG design of MapleStory.
2) It's a work-in-progress.
3) It probably shouldn't have been given away.

But do we have to repeat the same arguments over and over again on the same topic? Kenny understands it when it's said maybe twice or thrice, doesn't have to be said 8 times.
And I barely ever read anything about the positive things of our Staff, either. Does it always have to be criticism?

I'm going to just assume you guys all know that adding these chairs and other wizet edits stray from any "nostalgic" feel anyway.

Regardless, if you have ever played a server with wizet edited chairs, you usually have multiple ugly large ones like this Mudkip chair. Annoying people like to use them and get in the way of others, but that is just the way of it when you have wizet edits, because wizet editors like to add the most crazy things they find into the game.

Now I have to go install a door knob.

 

I thank you for your thoughts, honestly I do, but you have to have noticed by now that what you described is exactly as every MSPS community is. Staff tries something (eg. new rules, new content, new .wz edits), people find flaws in the something (rule sux omg, content requires downloads omg, .wz edits block the whole screen omg), and then you all go on to rage about it for 13 pages flat saying the same thing over and over.

I think that all this thread has to offer from this point on is people arguing over whether or not we should still be arguing over this. So, I'm closing this thread because it isn't going to offer anything more.

Kenny has received your input, and we all thank you very much for telling us what you do and do not want. Kenny is working on either fixing the chair so that isn't quite as obnoxious and unprofessional, or removing it entirely. You'll hear from us in the future exactly what has been done.
