When did you start playing MapleStory?

Sorry if this thread already exists, but I don't think it does! *disclaimer*
What year did you start playing MapleStory? I started playing MapleStory in 2005, 2006, I don't remember which date it was LOL all I know I was 8 when I started playing and now I'm 18. Also do you have any old screenies/ your old characters? I still have my first character! I'm logging on it right now to prevent the name wipe that is going to occur (just a heads up)!
I'll get screenies up later, right now I'm too lazy haha

I started playing during beta in 2004, and played Scania till the end of 2007. I quit before 4th job came out and got to level 150. I'd have to dig deep to find some screenshots.

 

Cool! My main world was Windia, but I switched around at times. I wish I still had my screenshots, but I sadly don't because I had like 4 computers since that date. (I break stuff easily xD). If you ever have any time please post them here <3

 

I played MS back in 2006 myself and played for 6 years. I watched the game evolve into a truly wonderful game. Unfortunately it all went down hill back in 2011 with the introduction of future quests and the level 140 weapons. It soon divided the powerful from the weak. Every class felt the same. That's why I love this server! This was around 2008 when these things were coming out and when I played the game the most. I was a windian now and forever. My original character which I can't access anymore was a level 153 Bowmaster.

Oh man, I think my first time was 2005? Back when there was like, 5 worlds haha. I think I was in Bera or Broa, one of those two. Unfortunately I don't have any screenshots on my first character. But the highest I ever been to was 50 on my Bandit, lol.

I took a break for a year or two until I found the greatness in which are private servers. I played on Sydney MS and FarmerStory, one of the highlights of my time.

 

Started playing sometime in 2005-2006 when I was in grade school. I had seen MMORPGs like Runescape, Rakion, and Gunbound before but none of them seemed interesting enough for me to play. But once I started MS, I was hooked. Tons of people on Maple Island/FM/Kerning/everywhere. Go to FM and your PC lagged to hell because of all the people spamming. The sheer number of people was a big plus for me, because it seemed like a real world, a perfect world where one could retire oneself and not have to worry about the hardships of life.

In the olden days there was a whole class structure. It was like a Dickens novel. At the bottom were the noobs who begged for mesos at the entrance of FM/Kerning. In the middle were grinders and hard workers who maintained their status through perseverance and legal activities. At the top were the merchants and dexless sins and NX whores who had gotten their fortune through luck or skill or nefarious methods. It took a while but I eventually learned how to reach the top, but unfortunately through "nefarious methods". That was the smart thing to do anyways, since the GMs in Old MS did almost no policing at all (unlike this server); you wouldn't get banned unless you were blatantly hacking in front of their eyes. And of course scammers never got banned. When I reached max mesos for the first time, I was awed by how much I had accomplished. Everything was scarce in the old days. When I was a noob, 1 mil seemed like a lot to me. And it was. Most people never even got that much back then. In 2005-2007 Maple, even 1 mil was considered a lot. But somehow I got max mesos, 2.147 (2^31) billion mesos, and I realized, wow, I never thought I would be able to make so much mesos - if I could achieve this in a game, which only a fraction of the population achieved (probably < 1% in 2005-2007), what could I do in the Real Game of Life? So then I quit and studied hard in school and aced all my tests and got into a good college and now I'm currently working as a cybersecurity engineer for the FBI.

All of this is sooo true, that is why I'm playing this server. I love how you have to work for your stuff and feel accomplished! Dang how did you get so much mesos haha? I struggled always to get 1mil, and I still kind of do today, the struggle is real. That is so awesome and definently a great memory. And omg no way I want to join the FBI as well haha, I'm actually majoring in Crimnology and Psychology in college right now! I heard its really hard to get into the FBI and there's lots of steps, but hopefully I can get in. That's so cool though! I really love this post haha

 

I think I started playing in 2006, I switched servers a lot though. I went from Bellocan > Mardia > Demethos > Galicia > Chaos. I play on Bera now occasionally.

 

Late 2005 in Bera. Switched over to Windia and then to Bellocan where I made my home.

 

Must've been before MapleEurope came out, because I played Global. So before 2007 is it? I don't really keep track of this sorta stuff c:

 

Started around 2006 when I was 16. Played for about 2 or 3 years on Khaini (I think that was the name). Never got past like level 35 or 40. I always got distracted with talking with people and just generally screwing around -- never really doing many quests or serious grinding. I preferred exploring and creating my own adventures to what others typically did.

 

Were you apart of the Alleviate team?

 

I believe I started in early 2006 and played for 4 years, only in Windia. I helped lead TheFallen for a while and then played a big part in Spontaneous until I quit, if anyone remembers either of those guilds.

 

I started playing in May 2005 when the game came out. It was the end of ninth grade and I remember it very vividly. Tons of people in my school played it

 

I started in 2005, but didn't play properly until Windia. Was friends with all the big Windia people, and kinda funny that I remember their real names even though it's been so many years since I've played with them. Kawaiinoob account shared with me (she was #1 priest back in the day, fun times!) Then I moved to Mardia and was in Eternity, ppl2pass yo.

Played the MTS like crazy, I made more mesos on that than I can even count, way more than max mesos.

I think I have screenshots somewhere, once I'm home I'll dig them out if I find em!

I started in 2006 I believe when it was just Scania and Bera. I made a character in bera, ut messed him up. I restarted in Windia and moved up to the elites when it mattered and quit right after PB was released. I came back after big bang to hit 200 on my NL, moved to Nido and took over. -raises fist-

 

I do remember that guild I think! Do you remember RiotGirlz/RiotBoyz? If you were a hene-hoe and nx-cash funded you were in one of those guilds, oh and you had lots of fame too. haha!
