I've come across a few naive people in game that argue that vote abusing (voting more than once every 24 hours on multiple accounts) is legal (even though it is stated on the voting page) because it is not in the terms and conditions, so can it please be added.
If you could provide us with information as to who these people are, we will take care of making sure they know it is not okay.
I wouldn't want to do that, as they genuinely think it is legal. It just needs to be added to the rules. Some people just don't believe me when I say it's illegal as it is not in the rules. When I convinced someone it was illegal by showing them ban appeals, they said they would stop, but that they had "heard from a friend" that it was legal. So it just needs clarification.
I'll admit that I didn't know that it was either for a little while (once I realized it was, I stopped). Yes, it says, "You can only vote once," but doesn't say whether or not that is once per account or just ONCE, period. Having it clearly defined is never a bad thing.
When I first joined, I was explicitly told by an older member that voting from multiple IPs on different accounts was okay, and that the once per 24 hour rule was just because GTOP didn't register votes from the same IP more than once in 24 hours. I did double check with a GM afterwards, but people should not have to check with a GM to have this clarified. In addition to changing the ToC, I think the vote page should say something closer to: 'You may only vote once every 24 hours and on one account only. Abusing the vote system will result in a temporary or even permanent ban from the server.'
If we wanted to allow voting on multiple accounts we wouldn't have an IP check in place... However we will look into trying to make the rule on this more clear.
What is the policy if you vote on only 2 accounts, say one on your desktop and one on your mobile? Of course official policy may say it is illegal, but would there be any punishments for it only being 2 accounts? (this is saying that it is one vote per account per 24 hours)
