I have a few suggestions about the current server that I think need to be implemented soon. I'm operating under the assumption that the new source is not right around the corner. HT Horntail needs a daily limit to stop people spamming 3+ HTs per day and getting a massive amount of EXP and NX. I think twice per day is a fair limit and although I've heard this change (or similar) is to be implemented in the new source, I think this should be remedied now before the book market becomes too far gone. GOBY Gobez are a significant cause of the crazy inflation in the server at the moment, the Equip drop rate is so high that people farming gobies all day (and there is usually at least one mage there at any time) earning 50m per hour (source) raw meso, flooding the economy with cash that no meso sink can sustain. The tax on merchants is a good meso sink, but is not affecting the farmers significantly. This is because a great many of the people farming Gobies are saving for very large purchases (20b+) which will be transferred in merchants 1m at a time, minimising the effects of merchant tax. STUN Though less pressing, the lack of stun in the game makes Bodyguard A and Zakum (and Papulatus???? am I going crazy I'm like 50% sure pap used to stun) a lot easier than they should be. Moreover, (I'm operating under the assumption that the new source is not right around the corner.) it's such a key mechanic in high level gameplay that I feel it's a part of making this server feel like the old Maple it's supposed to. Again, I know that two of the proposed changes are being considered for the new source, but I don't think we should stop bailing out the dinghy to work on the yacht. ok ty
i agree that the no-limit ht is ridiculous, getting 5 runs from 1 repeatable quest is crazy. it really makes no sense when other bosses have cooldown timers. pap should have one as well, it just doesn't make sense (although pap isn't a problem because it doesn't drop any books exclusively) on top of that ht is so glitchy that the hardest part about it is not the run itself, but the dc's from server lag and getting kicked due to expired timers. the whole thing is just so easy with freezing body parts and canceling weapon cancels and on top of that, apq isn't limited at all either so apples are everywhere and they are cheap, which makes it easy for underfunded/geared players to have a successful run, something that simply should NOT happen. the hardest boss in the game should not easily be killed with six weak players on apples. right now that and one experienced player who knows signups and order is all it takes for a successful run. by freezing body parts, players can get away with just 5.6k base HP and they can string together 3+ runs and get insane amounts of exp while destroying the book market obviously this will be fixed with the new source, but like you said we can't assume that it will be ready any time soon and it can't be an excuse not to take action... in my eyes this is a serious problem and has been for a long time and i'm glad someone else sees it like i do
There's an easy fix to the over saturated horntail books... ban hangjovi. But seriously why doesn't horntail have a daily limit yet, every other boss in the game does except for this one, the one that gives the most exp and best drops. Does that make any sense? Once upon a time bodyguard had no limit but people realized how incredibly dumb it was so they restricted it to once per day. I think it's time for horntail to get his, preferably down to once per day like bodyguard.
Correct me if i'm wrong, but havent people been doing multiple HT's per day for ages? Not a big fan of all the witch hunting...
Horntail and Papulatus have been restricted to twice per 24 hours. Stun is still very problematic and likely won't be re-implemented until new source. Gobies we will be leaving as they are for the time being.
is this still open for discuss? if it is, why 2 times a day for pap? it gives no exclusive books, no money, nothing good to sell, its just for exp which btw its not that good, since u need 6k hp to survive and only high level players have that, and a few washing ones. you already know all this, just want to know the reason. couldnt it be at least 4 times? its fun to do and fixing it 2 times will hurt ppl who farmed 100 cracks. at least i only bought 2 hehe
Because that's how it's supposed to be. Papulatus is twice per day. And you are supposed to only be able to get 1 crack per day.
So I assume the HT and Pap timers will work the same way as the Zak and Krex timers? Also, so glad this was finally implemented..
Is it possible to have the HT timer reset at 0:00 servertime instead of resetting after 24hours? It takes a while to form a party for HT and it usually takes ~80minutes (more or less depending on the attackers) to complete a run. Now this will eventually go out of schedule which will make you lose the chance of doing your second ht on the same day, which is pretty shitty for some classes.
Yes, it's how its supposed to be, but because this was not the case before the restriction, many players have adapted to it, I don't think it's fair for this to come spontaneously as players have just taken their daily cracks and saved them until to spend when they are free. Because of this, players who saved cracks would all gone to waste. If this was restricted to twice per day, players would definitely change their strategy of doing Papulatus , as by doing pap daily, but for this to come suddenly, It would be very unfair for those players who have saved cracks.....
Just wondering, were Gobies so outstanding meso-wise in original Maplestory? (since I've never played that far on original pre-BB Maple) With meso rates and drop rates increased proportionately throughout the whole of Royals, I don't see how the drop rate could be anomalously distorted on Royals specifically for Gobies. Just asking out of curiosity, thanks!
There isn't currently functionality to have it act like that right now. And I'm not too sure if that's how it was supposed to be, or if its 24 hours. Players who have saved up cracks can still use them to do Papulatus, I don't quite see how it's wasted since you get 1 crack a day and more cracks will let you do it twice a day, rather than going in with another player. This change would have occurred suddenly in the new source too, I suppose we could have done 10 per day, 9 per day, 8 per day etc, but that would be a bit silly imo.
That would be the retrospective effect , at least the notice of new source will be given and the changes will be notified. But having this changed suddenly would be unfair to those who saved many cracks and plan to use them in the future , now they are limited to twice a day hence they saved for nothing. As before players could enter pap as long as they have cracks , hence , pap being a "low hp" boss, it can be killed faster than other bosses, this induces players to save cracks and finish them in few hours or so,
If we accept skill changes along with the new source, we are acknowledging v62 is not a well balanced version. I think the balancing should affect all areas of the game, not just skills. The long term success of royalsGMS is dependent on a balanced economy GMS was never designed to work long term because it was constantly updated. This change would not solve the constant increase in total meso present in the economy, but would help slow it.
Are gobies themselves really that much of an issue? They're not the only location that you can make lots of raw meso/hr, though their insane spawn and thus higher equip yield makes them pretty hard to compare to.
Considering that you can always find an open map at gobies, I don't think they need to be nerfed since it's not crowded. I actually don't think I've ever not found a free map there. I'd guess and say that all of the popular leech maps end up producing a lot more mesos overall. Gobies have some decent potential but it doesn't amount to much if it isn't very popular.
