Let me explain this more clearly. You were partied with a hacker, and the penalty for partying with a hacker is the same penalty as being a hacker, as you were benefitting from being partied with him. If you're new to Maple, I can understand why, at level 59 (if I remember correctly) you wouldn't necessarily know that he was using a damage hack, because he's 40 levels higher than you. However, it was absolutely clear from watching him that he was using Item Vac too. By level 5x, you'll have played the game enough to realise that this isn't how picking up items works. If you're not using hacks yourself, you will have seen that you can't just stand on a platform in the middle of a map and suck all the drops towards you
