Using this post to save space for later! I definitely plan to join. I need some more "casual" play in my life now that work is hitting our peak season. I would be SUPER motivated if there was a guild called Ironmen, etc. I think having people to chat with would break up the bleakness of the no-party policy but still keep the general idea intact.
Yes the idea of a guild called Ironmen has come up on my mind as well. I just need the cash to set it up. There should be a guild made in 1 - 2 days I'd reckon.
Are you allowed to do the El Nath PQ for some 4th job skills? (Assuming any iron man makes it that far)
I feel like this should definitely be allowed, but if the Ironman spin must be put on it which I think is fairly cool/a fair proposition, then you could only do the PQ with other people from the guild/undertaking the Ironman challenge (Same for party-necessary bosses, etc.) People that have already started on this endeavor: @Bella @Tim @DIYChalak , I plan to make my character this evening! Any suggestions on what you all think would make for a fun class based off of your adventures so far (that isn't a mage, ofc)?
@Royalty One Idea I passed up on was a Gunbrawler, basically picking the Gunslinger route but putting everything in STR and using the 1st job skills flash fist and sommersault kick to kill mobs. Perhaps you'd like to do it instead. I'd say PQs for skills like El Nath PQ that are a one-time only thing should be allowed.
We were talking about this yesterday - I suggested that since we are unable to purchase things from other players, there should be an exception to complete PQ / bosses which are required for skill books (eg, zakum for a few level 10 skill books). Obviously a lot of this challenge is on a trust basis that others are following the rules, so I'd hope people would only participate in the runs for their books, and not for exp gain.
update before I head to bed: Made it to lvl 26, did some weapon hunting and quests to boost my gear up. Hyped for 2nd job and lvl 35 for the Korean fan (still using a lvl 10 dagger since I'm not allowed to buy anything better and I'm dexless)
SOOOO the wait is over. I am making a 1H BW Pally...who just so happens to be named after my favorite adult beverage. First things I did: Bought a Pet/Item Pouch (If I can't trade with others, I am damn sure not letting a drop slip through the cracks) Got the first job advancement. Buddied all of the pretty Ironmen peoples. Got a few extra levels before I had to catch on some late night work. So far, I gotta say it is enjoyable and refreshing.
It would be awesome if the staff could figure out a way to set up rankings for ironman players, like jagex did. That would make it really competitive which is basically the only thing that keeps me going on maple. I think I'm going to try this out sometime next week. EDIT: I'm also wondering what the rules are in relation to nx. Are we allowed to use any nx at all? If so, can I use nx that I previously had to buy nx equips so I don't look fugly? Also, is gach allowed?
Gach is allowed as the original post mentions needing to gach in places that are going to yield items and scrolls you need, rather than the highest profit gach. I used nx, but I'm only using new nx - not previous nx. Edit: old nx for cosmetics I can't see being an issue... But I wouldn't buy a bunch of gach with existing nx..
I actually didn't know there was a PQ that granted unique skill books. I'd say it's fair to make an exception as long as you only do the PQ to get the skill book rather than other rewards/exp. I will edit this into the original post later today. I like Bellas idea on this, only use old nx for cosmetic things as it really doesn't affect the challenge. Gach tickets, safety charms etc however is only buyable with new nx that was made post creating the Ironman. I will edit this into the original post later today. I believe it's only El Nath PQ and Horntail PQ which are required for some skills. Neither of which give any decent rewards of EXP, and people only ever participate in them for the books anyway.
