We will need to come to some sort of agreements on the EXP/Meso/Item drop rates. Last time MapleRoyals was active we used the following rates: 250x EXP, 100x Meso, 15x Mob Item, 25x Boss Item Drop Rates. To be fair I think this seems quite excessive I was thinking more like <x30 rates for all. Even x30 sounds pretty ridiculous. I have attached a poll. Feel free to post your reasoning behind your choices also. I think it would be great if this was one of those slower servers where things get nice and competitive and nobody will be level 200 within a few days. Votes are PUBLIC and Multiple Choice.
aslong as the rates are not too high then i'm more then happy. i mean just remember the likes of pmd exp lol...that 21x exp was just too much on ems. also just 1 more question, what do you plan on doing with nx options on here?
I'm hoping people kind of see the appeal of it being 10x exp or less as that is what will bring back the feeling of the grind, nostalgia & fun. Regards to NX, this is what I am thinking at the moment: Any game effecting NX item (SoK, Hammers, Gachapon, etc) will be available to everyone to buy with either Mesos or another form of in game item as currency to trade for these NX items. Regarding to nx clothes probably some of the same sort of thing as above. I do not want to give rewards for donations. Monetary donations made to me via paypal are fully donations to me and do not cover part of any purchase or cost cover of the server but help pay for my food and living. There is a reason for my previous sentence... Something similar to that anyway.
I will vote on this once I know what version we will be playing on. I do like the idea of the lower rates though. Vote system for NX (clothes and pet items)?
In the end, I believe the votes people cast will be a reflection of their ambition. Last time we had the server I did literally everything, and then I became a forum moderator and a GM and did things regarding those aspects and found myself having nothing new to do. It is difficult to figure out the comfortable rate at which things should be because, when the rate is high everything you ever wanted to accomplish will be done in a short amount time span; appealing to those with high ambitions. However, once you did everything you ever wanted, you have nothing left to do and you might not believe this, but you actually start to say to yourself, "wow ... this would of been better if it took longer". I am stating the obvious to try to convince others to vote for the one digit rates. Once you do everything you ever wanted in MapleStory, you will lose interest in it very fast. The x5 rate might not be enough later on. I feel as if spending several hours trying to go from 199 --> 200, or even 119-->120 might deter some interest in the server. My only experience in leveling at the high levels is through hacking and sadly, leaving your computer on all night hacking and waking up in the morning to find that you only went from level 90 to 93 in eight hours kind of sucked. It is hard to define the right rate of things, for me to make a concrete decision I did a search on Google and found that one person said that in 72 hours she/he achieved level 120. I'm probably not as proficient as that person, so I rounded that to 100 and decided I was okay with getting to level 120 in 12.5 or 20 hours (x8 or x5 rates). That is my line of reasoning, if I could I would probably vote for the x10 option as well. However I must say, that if the "rebirth" option will be present I would lean towards the x5 option since leveling would be a joke once you reach level 200 on a character multiple times and have the priest skill to give you even more experience. I could keep going on an on, but I won't. After typing this up, the x8 option seems the best to me because the experience does not sound too dreadful, and you are experiencing the same privileges of mob and boss drop rates, and if people get frustrated you could always host a double experience event during the evening so people feel some alleviation if they find the grinding at the x8 rate not enough.
I'm rather keen on 10% EXP. It means that grinding to the higher levels won't take as long whilst it will still feel like one has to work for the levels. We're all a lot older now, with other jobs, hobbies and responsibilities. It'll allow us to have fun and such but without the need to commit the same number of hours that we all spent back in the day on it once again. [I spend 4 days a week at university without internet in my room due to costs, and when I'm at home I spend a lot of it practising a lot on fighting games due to being in the competitive scene D=]. It was fun back in the day managing to reborn myself like 11 times and solo bosses that originally I had never been able to face, but alas that was short lived. Kero is looking forward to a nice fun game with you all. AA has not been a part of Kero's life for far too long.
Looks like we will be using 10x EXP, 5x Mesos, 5x Mob, 5x Boss Drop Rates If you compared that to EMS and its PMD + Ringmule + 2x exp card + family exp which was something like 21.5x, I think 10x exp will be pretty challenging...
There will not be rebirth. Due to 10x exp taking somebody approximately 4-5 months of hard core grinding to get near to 200.
